A/N Alright, this was not supposed to be here. I came up with this to go into a Dr. Who multi-chapter story I'm currently working on but after I read it to myself I realized there was just no way to make it fit in. I love it however, so I'll give it to you just the way it is.
Pretend the Doctor just got River out of the Library somehow. (Also, this is the 11'th Doctor)
(River's PoV)
River stood up, and that's when she noticed him. Standing there, like time could never touch him. Looking the same as he always did, tweed jacket and (That ridiculous!) bow-tie firmly in place. He had a smile on his face, but she noticed his eyes the most. He was hurting, she could see that. And though he didn't look it he was older too. Much older. She felt sorry for him, but a second later her emotion changed, because suddenly looking at him reminded her of everything. She had spent so much time in the Library's database that she had forgotten how to feel alive again. Seeing him caused it all to come flooding back though.
All that pain of losing her parents time and time again. First when she was a baby, and then again and again as they repeatedly almost, and in Rory's case actually did, die. Traveling with the Doctor was dangerous and that became painfully clear, when ultimately in Manhattan she lost her parents one last time - Forever.
She was also trained as an Assassin because of him. She was raised with only one purpose in mind.
To kill the Doctor.
It only made sense then, that he would be the one for her. The Doctor is (and really always was), the man she loves. He is her husband yet she had never known how much, if anything, she meant to him. Legends say he is like fire and ice and River couldn't agree more. Kindness and Rage. Forgiveness and Hate. Happy and Sad. All at once.
And she should really hate him.
She should.
Oooh, she had SO many reasons too!
He had left her like a forgotten book the on a shelf because did he really think that not saying goodbye was the best?
He had left her in the dark at Trenzalore. Never told her that he could see her, until their time had run out. She missed him so much, but she had resigned herself to the knowledge that he would never see her again. Then he waits last minute to tell her that he always had.
He had said it would've hurt to much. She had never understood why, until now. Because now . . . Now it was her turn.
Staring at him, she couldn't help but feel rage for the way he had treated her and how he'd he broken her hearts. The more she stared at him, the more she wanted to just run away one last time. . . .
. . .
But she was staring at him.
She was staring at him, and suddenly nothing else mattered. They could've been in a life and death situation, and River wouldn't have have cared the slightest.
He was there.
She was here.
Both of them.
Together.
As if reading her mind he spoke.
"Always and completely, River Pond."
. . . Well, it wasn't the most eloquent greeting ever. I mean seriously, 'River Pond'?! That man could irritate her more than anything else in the known universe! And you know something else?!
"Hello Sweetie."
She forgave him too.
A/N There you have it. I'm not sure if I'm completely happy the way it turned out (it sounded WAY better in my head!), but I love the Doctor and River together so this will do for now. I might add how the Doctor gets her out if I can ever think of how it would be accomplished. It's annoying me to no end that I couldn't think of a way. :(
I really do love this though, so I'm happy I got it out regardless. Thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions PLEASE tell me! I'm always trying to make my stories better and therefore more enjoyable to read. :)Thanks again, and see you later!
~Wow, this started off as 300 words and half an hour later it's doubled. Hmm.
