Hey, so this is my first story. Go easy on me.

Nervous

I was nervous...

I always nervous when I'm running from my life. My legs ached from running half the night, but now was probably not the best time to stop. Even at that very moment,

I sensed a bullet or 2 whiz by my out flung arm. I ran faster, giving it all I had. I could feel sweat trickle down my face. Not far off, I heard the shouts of the attackers and the footfall of my people.

"When will this nightmare end" I thought as I raced through the jungle. It seemed like forever. Everything was in slow motion. It was one of those time when your mind and thoughts race and yet your

body moves so slow. My heart was pounding as I dodged branches, trees, bugs, and bullets. Finally, I saw the river. The river mark the end of the cloaking sheild that kept Cobra's new lair hidden from

unwanted eyes. Cobra would not dare go outside for fear that they would be spotted. We only needed to cross over and our fight for survival would be over. We would be free and they could not

follow. Just as I thought I was going to make it, he grabbed me. He smelled whiskey and sounded drunk. He yelled something I could not understand and started to reach for something on his belt,

maybe a knife or a gun. But before he could pull it out I wiggled out of his arms, jumped into the river, and darted up the other side and into the jungle.

I could hear him yelling and cursing me but I didn't care in the least. I just kept on running. After sometime I slowed, coming off the adrenaline I grew tired and sleepy. I made camp with the others.

I smiled as I fell asleep by the dim fire. I looked at the stars that stretched out on the sky above where I lay. We had made it. We had won.

All that pain and suffering had come to an end just like we had dreamed and prayed it would. I felt a sense of pribe swell up in me. I grinned. It all seemed worth it, the sacrifice and tears I mean.

One thought ringed through out my mind as I closed my eyes.

I am free! Forever more.
