"It's beautiful, isn't it?" He smiled wistfully and made sure he stayed just barely out of sight of the girl he was speaking to.
"Yeah. It really is. Not really my cup of tea though, if you get what I mean." She didn't take her eyes off the painting before her to try and look at the stranger.
"I know exactly what you mean." More than she knew. He resisted the urge the stroke her dark hair. And this silly school uniform was very teasing on her. Maybe it was just the way she stood, or the fact that he knew her better than anyone in the universe, but the uniform reminded him of his Melody, his River and how she was always teasing him and taunting him. "Where's Amy?"
Mels chuckled. "Come off it, you watched her walk off. You've been watching for ten minutes but you thought I wouldn't notice. It's a shame I haven't got my gun."
"Never mind the fact that we're in a public museum and you're on a school trip."
"Those are just little details. I could kill you so easily."
"But you won't." He grinned and bounced on his toes, not that she could see it. "Not yet."
"Yeah, 'cause you're from my future, right? And my parents'? You're alive now, so I must fail repeatedly. I couldn't do it in Florida, that's for sure. And she shot me! My own mum shot me, and you didn't do that much to stop her."
"If I had known the gun was within her reach I would've kicked it out of the way. You have no idea how scared I was when she did that."
"You were scared?" She scoffed. "All I was doing was trying to get all of you to help me, but I got shot!" She made to turn around, but he grabbed her shoulder and held her facing forward. "Oh, so I can't look at you, is that it? That's not fair, I want to see your face, Amy never tells me whether or not you're hot."
"Didn't you see earlier? You noticed me as soon as I walked into the room, I'm sure."
"No, your stupid hair was in your face. Before I kill you I swear I'm going to cut it off. And make a huge show about it."
He knew he was pushing it staying this long. Amy was bound to come back in at any second, and that would cause a temporal fiasco if he knew her. Dropping a quick and impulsive kiss on Melody's cheek he whispered, "I'll be seeing you, Mrs. Robinson," and dashed out to where the TARDIS was parked in an alleyway. Maybe he'd go see his Melody now, and quite possibly find her a schoolgirl outfit.
