"What's with the face, Mako?" Asami prodded, freely entering his kitchen, "Other than the fact that it's always been that ugly."

"You didn't think so when we were still dating," Mako returned, giving her his most polite what-the-hell-are-you-doing-here look.

Asami smirked. "Well, that's before I met Iroh, and realized what handsome is supposed to look like," she replied, batting her eyelashes and heading towards the cabinet where the sugar was kept.

"Well good for you," Mako said flatly.

Asami rolled her eyes. She was expecting a little more fight from her former boyfriend, but it seemed something more important than her insults was bothering him. Mako sat at the counter, his hands propped beneath his chin.

"Are you worried about Korra?" It was a wild guess—except, not—on Asami's part. "You're making your I'm-brooding-over-Korra-because-she-left-me-to-do-actual-important-stuff face again. It's very unflattering on you, by the way." Asami gave him a smile, content with her natural ability to piss him off.

With a blank face, Mako gave her the middle finger, to which she stuck out her tongue and began emptying nearly the whole bag of sugar into her adorable Avatar Aang sugar bowl—it was a rare collector's item.

Asami's brows furrowed while she poured the sugar. "But Korra said she was spending the weekend with you." Asami smirked then. "Did she finally come to her senses and ran off with another guy?"

Mako wanted to wipe that delighted expression off Asami's face. Instead, he hope that his I-want-to-kill-you glare was getting the message across.

"I sent her out to buy rice," Mako clarified, annoyed.

"Aahhh," Asami drawled, nodding her head, "And so you're worried because…" Asami tilted her head in careful thought, "Korra will be… eaten by the rice?"

Mako gave Asami an unimpressed look and Asami shrugged. "I mean, why else would you look like your girlfriend just got sent to war, if all she's doing is out buying rice?"

"She's been gone too long. Something might have happened."

"Yeah," Asami agreed, "Like, the guy selling rice might be hot or something." Asami rolled her eyes as Mako glowered. She placed what's left of the sugar back into the cabinet, shaking her head. "I think you sometimes forget that she's the Avatar, Mako. She can take care of herself."

Personally, Asami felt sorry for the chumps who thought messing with Korra would be a good idea.

"Yeah." Mako sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "Maybe I'm overthinking it," he mumbled.

Asami nodded. "So just—"

"But," Mako rose from his seat at the counter and grabbed his red scarf, heading towards the door, "I think I should go check on her anyway."

Asami tried to refrain from doing a face-palm. Instead, she just sighed as she watched the firebender leave. "If you're that worried, you should have just gone with her in the first place," she mumbled, preparing to head out herself.

Just then, Bolin walked out from the bathroom.

"Uh, hey Asami," the earthbender glanced around the kitchen, "Uh, where's Mako?"

"He left," Asami answered dismissively. "He went to look for Korra because she's apparently taking too long to buy rice or whatever."

Bolin looked really confused for some reason.

"But Asami—"

"Hmm?"

"—Korra only left like five minutes ago."
