Marinette thought, her sapphire eyes stared into the night. She felt so close to the sky, yet so far from the world, on the small hotel roof. It was almost an abandoned house, on that would be in some horror movie. She was waiting for something. Or rather someone. Someone she had been waiting for five years. Someone who had disappeared from her life. And she was waiting in the exact place where she last saw him.
"You will be back, right? Don't leave me, waiting, for too long, will you?"
"Never, m'lady," echoed his voice.
If only she knew who he was. Why did they have to keep their identities a secret? To protect each other. She thought, she couldn't keep waiting every night for him, if he never came. After five years, who would remember a silly little promise, they made? That was just it. To Marinette, this wasn't a 'silly, little' promise. It meant a lot- especially because she only realized she was falling for him, after all the years of not knowing the one for her was right there. After all this time.
He'd always called her 'm'lady,' even if she wasn't actually his lady. In return, she nicknamed him 'kitty' as his emerald green eyes reminded her of black cats. Not to mention, the constant black mask over his face, preventing them from knowing the identities of each other.
But he would never come back. Marinette sighed, stood up and prepared to jump onto the next building roof.
"M'lady?! I hope I wasn't too late?"
Yes, he was. 5 years too late.
