Ah yes, another cliché Percabeth high school AU. Thanks for reading, open to suggestions, mainly writing as a form of self expression because I don't tend to enjoy human contact.

Tick

She was having trouble concentrating, every noise like a symphony of distraction keeping her from completing her goal.

Tick

Yes, it was only a placement test, but this could be the difference between being able to basically skip the first year of college, or having to waste another year.

Tick

100 frustrating questions, the words sometimes floating off the pages, dyslexia never made school easier.

Tick

Annabeth knew she had to do her very best on this, not only for her sake, but maybe if her mother saw her scores…

'Stop it' she furiously hissed to herself, albeit in her own mind, but she absolutely refused to let her mother guide her life. She was never there for her, and wouldn't get to be a guide for her daughter.

Tick

A quick glance at the clock, 11:30, fifteen minutes before the bell rang and how productive her year was going to be would be decided.

Tick

The annoying sound made her brows furrow, almost squinting down at the last few questions to read them right. There was no time to misread something and go over to check it, the ticking of each second seemingly blending together.

BRRRING

"Pencils down, turn your papers over, you are dismissed" the homeroom teacher called from their desk, for once using the tone of the kids they teach, expressing that they, too, did not want to be here.

A few minutes later Annabeth found herself in the halls, waiting for her best friend, and pitying whatever poor fool must have gotten in her way.

"Annabeth!" Speak of the devil, there she was. Thalia was down the hall, looking like she might attack the next person to cut her off.

Thalia was not normal or average, which Annabeth hoped she would take as a compliment, with her spiky black hair, large bracelet, almost goth look, with a shirt attacking whatever popular trend was currently going around.

If there was only one thing you'd remember about Thalia though, it would more than likely be the sharp blue eyes that would leave your hair on end.

"Hello? Earth to Annabeth!" Thalia all but shouted at her, effectively waking her from her trance-like state.

"W-What? Sorry I might have spaced out a bit.." she responded, somewhat embarrassed. Spacing out? Annabeth never did that.

Thalia just snorted and hurriedly pushed her out of the school. She hadn't even noticed they were walking.

"Yeah, I figured that out. I asked if you wanted to hang out at my place, or if you had to go home." Thalia said, grinning.

"Your place", came the quick reply. Anything to keep from going home and having to spend time with her stepmother.

As they were walking toward the parking lot, Annabeth anxiously worrying about her test scores already, some guy with raven black hair and a deep blue hoodie bumped into her.

"sorry", quickly followed it, albeit quietly, and when she turned around to acknowledge him, he was very far past. All she caught sight of were his strikingly green eyes, which should have been impossible to see from such a distance, but seemed to be more impossible to miss, before he turned a corner and was gone.

I'm not exactly sure if this is a chapter or just a preview, but I wanted to get something out for constructive criticism. Updates will be infrequent, my apologies. Thanks again for reading. All types of reviews welcome. :)
