Hi! This is my first attempt at a Marvel/ Avengers / Captain America fic, so I apologise for how bad it is. Written on April 27th, 2 days before the UK release of Captain America: Civil War! I'm going to A Triple Bill showing of all three Captain Americas tomorrow night, ready to watch CW at midnight (I'm going to be shattered on Friday at college, but who cares) I am so so so excited! I don't own MARVEL, Stan Lee, The Avengers, Captain America or the lovely Chris Evans, but I am a very proud supporter of #TeamCap
My friend and I were discussing Stan Lee's cameo, and I came up with this.
Lottie James has had enough. She has worked three hours overtime so far, after her gruelling twelve hour shift. Don't get her wrong, she loves her job as an air hostess, it's been her dream since she was five years old to travel the world. She loves seeing families excited for their holidays, people of all ages filling with excitement, and occasionally fear at the thought of flying to a new place, just begging to be explored. Check-in can be exciting; she gets to interact with a variety of people, from the young and old, the experienced flyers to the nervous ones. Sometimes there is an angry or frustrated passenger, but she puts on a smile and works through it. But today? Today she's had enough.
If anyone had asked her before today what she thought of the Avengers, she would have replied with "I've never met them, but they've made a difference to the world, a good difference". However today, she would tell that person to shove off, because the Avengers are the reason she has worked fifteen hours, with a multitude of angry customers because a man in spandex, and a billionaire who for once in his life hasn't got his own way are having, in her opinion, a lover's spat.
"Excuse me Miss" A man, possibly in his mid 70s, early 80s (Lottie has never been good with guessing ages, even after working for New York Air for 10 years) pushes through the queue to get to the front
"How long is this going to take? I have to be at a signing in DC in an hour"
"I'm afraid I don't have that information, Sir" Lottie responds, resisting the urge to pull her shoulder length brown hair out of her scalp, she feels like a robot, having to repeat the same information over and over again.
"It depends on how long the world's superheroes are going to take to stop acting like children, and how much damage they do. I'm tempted to bash their heads together" She adds under her breath as afterthought. The man in front of her obviously heard her comment, as he smiles slightly, and Lottie just feels her cheeks redden.
"The airline is working on communication with the CEO of Stark Industries, to see if they can stop this little civil war, but I don't know anything more than that" She says with a small smile
"I damn hope they hurry up" The man responds and Lottie just nods in agreement "You wouldn't be able to point me in the way of the VIP area would you, dear?" he adds, flashing his VIP ticket. Lottie waves over one of her colleagues, Jack who she is certain hasn't had a break yet
"Jack, could you please take Mr..."
"Lee, Stan Lee" The old man says and Lottie smiles, the name sounds familiar, but she can't place it.
"Mr Lee to the VIP area please, and then go take your break"
"No problem Lotts" Jack grins, sending her a thankful smile, before leading the older man away, and Lottie takes a deep breath, before turning to the never ending line of customers.
"Sir, Madam, my name is Lottie, how can I help you today?" She asks with tired enthusiasm. She's going to take the next two days off, and if anyone ever mentions the Avengers again, she is sure she is going to scream.
Fin.
