"Oh come on, Sonic!" The red Echidna said a little below a yell, "It's just water!"

"Y-Yea..." Sonic said in high pitch, his voice started to crack. His toes touched the surface of the water but he quickly jerked them back. "N-No... I can't do it..." He took a few steps back from the river and sat down on the sand, "I prefer to stay here where it's dry, thank you very much."

Knuckles groaned angrily. Face palming, he got out of the clear waters and crossed his arms, "Alright, Sonic. What's it gonna take to get your blue butt in the water?"

"Nothing!" Sonic said in a stubborn tone, crossing his arms, "I'm not getting in! Why did you drag me here anyways?"

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm trying to help you. This dumb phobia of yours is gonna get in your way one day." Knuckles sighed and grabbed his ungloved hand, causing Sonic to blush slightly, "C'mon, Blue." Knuckles tugged on him as he walked toward the river. Sonic struggled, trying to break free from his red friend's grasp, but all else failed. The Echidna was just too strong.

Knuckles literally dragged over to the edge of the river. Sonic begin to struggle once again when Knuckles started to get in. Knuckles tried his best to be patient with the stubborn hedgehog, he sighed, "Just look at me and don't think about the water." Sonic began to whimper, but did what his friend commanded and looked into his amethyst eyes. He couldn't help but to groan like he was in pain when his foot entered the water.

"Sonic... Look at me..." Knuckles begin to walk deeper in the river as Sonic gazed at the lavender orbs staring at his own emerald eyes. Sonic thought about how cute his red friend looked. The rosy blush flushed his face again. Knuckles didn't seem to notice, however. He just kept looking at his fearful green eyes. Eventually, the water was at Sonic waist.

Knuckles smiled and give out a small chuckle, "Heh, didn't think you would ever make it this far." Sonic snapped out of his trance and looked down and noticed the water surrounding him. He let out a girly screech and ran out of the water faster than the speed of light.

Knuckles face palmed once again and mumbled under his breath, "I had to say that, didn't I..." He then looked and noticed how deep the river really was, he certainly couldn't feel the bottom of it. It must have been like 9 or 10 feet. He felt something dwelling closer to his legs...

Sonic, back at the shore, was trying his best to shake the water off. He sighed sadly, "I'm sorry, Knuckles... I guess this phobia is never going to-"

"SONIC! HELP!"

Sonic quickly jerked his head to see the red Echinda struggling to stay on the surface of the water. His arms were flailing everywhere, splashing water left and right. "Something's got my leg! I-It's pulling me down!" Sonic began to panic and franticly looked around to find something to use that would help him. Realizing that nothing was going to help him, he ran toward the water. But quickly stopped himself right at the edge of the water, not even touching it. 'I can't get in the water!' Sonic thought, 'I just can't!'
"What should I do!?"

"Help me! You idio-" Knuckles' mouth was suddenly full of water as he was completely pulled into the deepness of the river.

"KNUCKLES!"

Sonic didn't even care anymore. He jumped in the swam to the spot where Knuckles disappeared into the blue abyss and dove in.

He swam a few feet down and saw his friend, his eyes were closed and his mouth was open, as if he was trying to breath the water. His hand was reached out, which was now swaying slightly in the water.

The hedgehog wrapped his arm around the Echinda and swam back up. As soon as he reached the surface, he started gasping for air. He quickly swam to the shore with his unconscious friend in his arms. He wasn't moving...

Sonic actually knew what to do, since he saw it on television. Which was to preform CPR. He didn't really knew how to do it but what people did on the TV was to push down on the chest. However Knuckles started coughing up the water before Sonic started. The Hedgehog sighed, relieved.

"Oh thank goodness. I... Knuckles...?"

The Echinda wasn't moving at all. His eyes were closed and his body laid on the sand, as if he was dead.

"Come on, Knuckles, buddy! Wake up!" Sonic said, shaking his lifeless friend violently, "Please wake up! Don't die on me, bro!" Tears filled his eyes, coming to a realization that his best friend was gone-

Suddenly, two violet eyes opened, along with a smug smirk.

"Gotcha!"

"KNUCKLES!" Sonic screamed, filled with anger, "What the heck, man! I thought you were dead!"

Knuckles let out a loud laugh which caused Sonic's anger to suddenly disappeared in thin air. Knuckles was... laughing? Sonic couldn't help to crack a smile. Knuckles never laughs. Heck, he hardly even smiles!

"Why did you..." Sonic's voice faded away slowly. Knuckles smirked, "Hey, I got you in the water, didn't I?" Sonic looked back to the water and back to his friend. It's true. And he wasn't even scared!

"Woah..." Sonic said to himself and Knuckles let out another laugh, "So I guess you aren't afraid of water, huh, Big Blue?" Knuckles had a huge sly smile smacked across his face.

"Are you kidding!?" Sonic said, "I have another reason to hate it! What if that was real and you really did drown!? It's scary to think I would drown in water but a friend drowning is much more terrifying! And you said something got your leg-"

"It was all part of the act, Hedgehog." Knuckles frowned. Any trace of his happiness was gone.

"I don't care! That means that creatures lurk in the water and they could kill you any minute..." Sonic shivered at the thought of a ugly creature with sharp teeth like a shark right under your legs, ready to pull you deep in the water to your absolute doom.

Sonic continued with his excuses and Knuckles just sighed, realizing that the stubborn Hedgehog will never overcome his fear.
