The comparisons to his previous girlfriends were inevitable.
He had loved Simone and Caitlin. Both of them had been beautiful, both fiery and independent. Emma was beautiful as well, and he sensed she had the same temperament as the previous women he had fallen for. But what set her apart from those other women was her ability.
She was like him, in a way neither Simone nor Caitlin had ever been. And through the happy accident of borrowing her power, he understood her in a way no one else could. For the first time in a long time, he felt like he was on equal ground in his new relationship. He didn't have to hide his ability from Emma, and he didn't long to be normal whenever he was around her.
Peter smiled.
It was something he had been doing a lot more ever since he had met her.
