Nashville TV: Season 3 episode 10 resolution of Rayna and Deacon 'Blood is Thicker than Water'
Maddie begs Rayna to check in on Deacon and then falls asleep from exhaustion. A shock of adrenaline gets Rayna's heart racing as she anticipates seeing him. The doctors couldn't say much, since she's not next of kin, but they did tell her that Deacon was in serious condition. Rayna walks into the hospital room and sees Scarlett at Deacon's bedside.
Scarlett, are you awake?
"Yes, hi Rayna. He's not good, though the doctors are hopeful." The tubes in Deacon's arm and bruises on his face are too much and Rayna breaks down in tears. "Here, sit down, Rayna" Charlotte gives her the chair and rubs her shoulders." I believe he's going to be okay. I can feel it."
Police officers come in the room again. "Ms. Jaymes, we're sorry to interrupt. We need to ask you some questions. We believe we have identified the perpetrator."
This was almost more than Rayna could handle. She was still reeling from the 1am call from the police telling her there'd been a kidnapping attempt on Maddie. Thankfully, though shaken up emotionally, Maddie was physically okay. "Mr. Claybourne fought off the assailants and he's in pretty bad shape. They're both at Mercy hospital. We have a good lead on the suspect and would like to meet you at the hospital to ask some questions." Rayna was shaking in disbelief. The threats had been coming in the mail for weeks now. Deacon, Teddy and Rayna had talked with the police and fitted all the houses with security cameras and systems. Lot of good that did.
"Could you give her some time- maybe another 30 minutes or so, please? "
"We'll be back in a little while."
"Rayna, would you like a few minutes alone with Deacon? "
"Yes, thank you, Charlotte."
"I'm going to call my momma and let her know what's going on."
Rayna wipes the tears from her eyes, kisses Deacon's forehead, and takes Deacon's hand into her own. "Deacon, I don't know if you're going to make it, so I need to tell you something. I'm so grateful to you for being there for Maddie. Thank you with all my heart! I haven't been fair to you, I've seen how much you've grown, what a strong man you've become and I haven't told you how I feel. I've been afraid. I haven't been strong enough. I thought being strong meant learning to live without you. I was wrong and I'm so sorry! Damnit, Deacon!. You can't leave me. I can't do this without you. I need you. I love you so much."
Standing outside the hospital room door, Luke realizes he'll never compete with Deacon for Rayna's heart. He turns and goes back to Maddie's room and waits for Rayna.
