All That's Left are Shards of Glass
They fit together at first;
neat ornaments atop
the tablecloth
But fragile ornaments
and all someone had to do
was pull the corner down
Then there's the sound
of shattered glass
a thousand times defined
And someone tries
to patch them back up
but one is irreparable
and the others taped and cracked
And then the tablecloth is pulled
again
There was once three
and two
but now there was only him –
his pieces on the floor
when he falls,
this time alone,
again.
