Maddie Thorgode is a normal teen. She lives in San Fransisco with her mother and father and enjoys surfing, dancing and roller-blading. Like most teens, Maddie Thorgode has a secret. In fact, her entire family has a secret. They're wizards and witches, and about the only pure-bloods left in America. on a normal August day, maddie would be off with her freinds, hanging on the beach or watching movies, but not today. In fact, this whole August Maddie has done nothing but sit in her family room waiting for a letter. Itwas late in August and shewas waiting, very impaitiently for the letter to arrived. Sudenly there was a burst of cool air and a small, white envelope fell into Maddie's lap. It wsa addressed to her and she hastily opened it to read what was inside.

"Finally!" Maddie said. "I would'v'e thought they'd have sent the letter sooner! August thirteenth? That's this Monday!" Maddie turned to her mom and dad. "Where can we go to get all this? Grandma told about Diagon Alley in London, but what about San Fransisco?"

"There is a hidden town right south of Chinatown for wizards. We'll go there!" Mrs. Thorgode said. Mrs. and Mr. Thorgode prouded themselves on being pure-blood wizards. THey were both very proud of Maddie to be going to Nidgegin's, where they both attended school. Mrs. Thorgode was very pretty with long, brown hair and piercing blue eyes, both of which Maddie inheireted from her. Mr. Thorgode was very tall and had dirty blonde hair and beautiful gray eyes. Both of Maddie's parents were different, but they shared one thing- impatience. So very soon, as you can imagine, the three of them were of to what was known to the wizarding world (of California, that is!) as the Owl's Nest.
