Carter looked out at the snow and sighed. 2 inches of snow had fallen since his shift had started, and it had started snowing again. His jeep was stuck in the parking garage. it didn't l;look like he would be going anywhere for the next few hours at the very least.
He was sitting in the lounge, thinking about how hungry he was, when Susan burst through the doors.
"Hey Carter, since most of us are snowed in here and it's pretty slow, we thought we would have a wee party."
"Aw, cool" said Carter. "Will there be food?"
Susan laughed. "Yes Mr always-thinks-of-his-stomach. Malik's gone on a pizza run."
Carter ginned as his stomach growled. "Great, I'll be there in a sec."
He put away his jacket and bag, which he had been clutching in the vain hope that he might be able to escape, and joined the rest of his friends.
By the time he came out the pizza was there, and the party was getting into full sweing.
Abby and Luka were chatting. Mulucci was dancing with Lydia and Chunni. Kerry had abandoned her work, and was chatting with Elizabeth and Peter.
Carter wandered over to Deb, grabbing a slice of pizza and a coke as he went.
"This party's lame" he said. "Where's the music. Where's the dancing?"
As if she had been waiting for him to ask, Deb leaned across him and put on some music.
Carter felt himself blush – she had put on "The way you look tonight" by Stevie Wonder which was a very romantic song.
"Dance with me" she breathed in his ear.
He obediently took her hand, and they slow-danced in the middle of the ER.
