The vidphone on her desk had been ringing on and off for the past three minutes, but was now silent. Relena knew there were two councilors scheduled to have a conference meeting with her over the transfer of her responsibilities on the Constitutional Committee. Although she had nine months to go before she officially resigned her position as Vice-Foreign Minister, Relena was determined to ensure that all her interactions with the ESUN were protected from those who may want to take her absence as an opportunity to establish their own agendas.

But what was before her trumped the threat of any over ambitious would-be rulers of the world.

Heero stood at attention in front of her desk, an image that, if memory served Relena, had played out repeatedly over the last two years. Her bodyguard stared straight ahead, not even allowing his eyelids to begin the process of blinking. He was in his Preventer uniform and she could only guess that he came from the administration building since said uniform was devoid of burn marks, oil spills and blood splatters. An average day, with an average meeting between a soon-to-be-ex Vice-Foreign Minister and one of her two soon-to-be-ex-bodyguards.

"Heero, could…could you repeat what you just said?"

"I think I was clear the first time."

"Please, humor the almost unemployed semi-leader of the free …um…territories? Yes, I think that makes sense since I can't say 'world' technically…"

Heero raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, sorry…repeat sentence."

Heero took a deep breath.

"Relena, would you like to go to a movie tomorrow night?"

The office became silent after his voice faded. Relena just stared at him in awe, her mouth opening just slightly, but unable to form words.

"You're asking me out?"

"Yes…Duo and I figured that since you have been working none stop for the last two months, that you need a break. A pre-retirement activity, Duo's words not mine."

Heero instinctively relaxed as Relena chuckled to herself.

"A movie…tomorrow night… I haven't done that in a while…", Relena leaned back in her chair, "Alright, I'd love to go to the movies. What time to get ready for?"

"Duo said nine-ish, which means ten thirty. I prepared a good disguise for you."

"I figured as much. I assume I'll be meeting you somewhere?"

"No, I'll come get you from your apartment."

"Understood. See you then."

And with that she returned to her work. Heero nodded in understanding and after taking a quick surveillance of all his security installments, headed for the door.

"Heero?"

The young man stopped his hand on the doorknob, about to turn it and let the noise of the hallway in.

"It's both you and Duo taking me to the movies tomorrow. Right?"

For the first time since he entered the office, Heero smiled.

"Yes, we are."

Relena nodded briskly.

"Alright, see you then."

Heero nodded silently, and then continued on his way out.

Owari

Okay, that was weird…
