summary: Sequel to Routine. Booth finds himself uncomfortable shedding old military habits.

"I'm not jealous." Booth hit his hands against the sink. "I'm not!" But he was. He loathed the speculating glances at young Zach Addy; hated the itch under his skin that screamed to touch the squint. It was a strictly defined relationship, sex when stress got to him, when women irritated him. Zach was there, even said those three words, didn't ask him for more. It was routine, he'd ignore him at work, drive around the block a couple time, get in, get out. Booth couldn't understand how Zach could think this silent agreement more romantically, he also couldn't understand how he was jealous. After all, there wasn't a signed contract and he dated other women.

He exited the washroom and made his way to his designated squints. When he got there, he wished he hadn't. There was Zach. Why couldn't he have left marks last night? How would they trace it back to him if they never suspected? Unless Hodgins took a swab, assuming the improbability of Zach not taking a shower. At least the vultures would know to lay off.

Was it so important to flirt with Brennan, enduring her knowing looks, to maintain his heterosexual face and see Zach turn away from him? Don't ask, don't tell didn't shadow his very step now, the FBI wasn't all that intolerant though they still frowned. Could he do it? Risk it for Zach?

The nervous shy smile was flashed past the vultures at him. Have his first name called out when they made love. Making love, not just sex. Yes.

Working on his corpses would be a bit of an inconvenience, maybe a shiney on a chain to put on after the cases. That'll be something to shove down those vultures' craws.

Parker would love Zach especially after that robot for Christmas, he'd be the coolest dad in the world, both of them. Even if Zach was a weirdo sometimes.
