Lies

Hi everyone! So this is just a little one shot about one of my favorite characters in the Vampire Diaries, Katherine.
When Katarina Petrova was 10, her favorite sister died. She was devastated. And of course, it wasn't her fault she bumped into her sister and pushed her into the path of a fast-rolling cart. So she told her parents Maria tripped. It was almost true. When Katarina Petrova was 10, she lied.
When Katarina Petrova was 16, she got pregnant outside of wedlock. This was such a taboo thing to do; she couldn't leave the house the entire time. It was with the local baker, who was married with kids. She felt bad for him, knowing he would be hung for it if they knew the truth. So she said it was the boy who cleaned the stalls at the market. After all, it was almost true. When Katarina Petrova was 16, she lied.
When Katarina Petrova was 17 she got kicked out of her house and her country. Because she disgraced their family, she was disowned and had to move to London to live with her aunt and uncle. She was so angry, she almost slapped her father. London! She would never fit in. This was her home; it wasn't fair of them to kick her out. She hadn't done anything wrong! As she left, she told her Mama that she would of course be good for her aunt and uncle. After all, it was almost true. When Katarina Petrova was 17, she lied.
When Katarina Petrova was 19, she met Lord Niklaus. He was beautiful, charming, and rich. He was perfect. Klaus, as he had asked her to call him, had even seemed to have taken an interest in her! He had danced 4 times with her at his birthday ball, and when he wasn't dancing with her he was staring at her. She knew she was beautiful. It wasn't vain; it was just stating a fact. Klaus had even offered for her to stay with him! She had accepted, of course! He was perfect! But then, Klaus was gone so much. So she stayed with his charming brother, Lord Elijah. Elijah was fun, he played with her, spent time with her, unlike Klaus. One day Elijah sat her down and made her promise to be careful, especially around Klaus. She told him she would, of course. Besides, it was almost true. When Katarina Petrova was 19, she lied.
When Katarina Petrova was 20, she found out about the curse. And she ran like hell. She enlisted Trevor's help. The poor fool, he was absolutely head over heels for her. Couldn't he see how he could never compare to Elijah and Klaus? But Trevor did end up being useful. She ran into the forest, taking the dreadful moonstone with her. She ran to Rosemary's cottage, and begged for help. And then, she killed herself, turning herself into a vampire. As she had told them, better them than her. She couldn't go back to Klaus. She couldn't, he would kill her! And Elijah must have been a traitor as well, he obviously knew about the sacrifice. How could he? How dare they? The two men she had loved had betrayed her. They had even killed her family, as she later found out. She had been through so much. It wasn't fair to her, that much shouldn't happen to one person. She wasn't that bad of a person, was she? So she made a promise to herself. She promised herself she would never love again. After all, it was almost true. When Katarina Petrova was 20, she lied.
When Katarina Petrova was 20, she became Katherine Pierce. A tough, mean, heartless vampire. And she promised herself, she wouldn't be hurt again. She would keep her heart in a glass box. She would stay safe from Klaus, and one day she would avenge her family. Because she was Katherine, she was invincible. She promised herself this. When Katherine Pierce was 20, she lied. And would lie over and over again for the rest of her eternal life. Because she was Katherine Pierce, and Katarina Petrova, and she lied.
