Ezra stared in shock at the person before him. "Where . . . " He stumbled over his words, licked his suddenly dry lips, and tried again as the intruder to his privacy leered closer. "Whereas Ah may have an admiration for wealth and a constant desire to increase mah own substantial revenues, Ah am hardly interested in such a proposition."
"Huh?"
"Ah am not employed here for such a degrading position."
"What you sayin'?"
Ezra waved away foul breath, then breathed a sigh of relief as Coco approached behind him. "The gentleman means 'no'."
"What? You can't say no to me!"
"Yes, we can."
"Furthermore, that is indeed what Am am declaring."
The irate customer glared at them and mistook Coco's interruption to protect his friend as something a great deal more. "No whore can buy another whore!"
"Ah assure you," Ezra spoke with indignity, "that neither of us are such!"
"Bull! Look at your floozy asses and - "
The ugly words were silenced by Coco's fist. Ezra gazed at his friend in shock. "Coco . . . !"
"Not now, Ez. We gotta get this cleaned up in a hurry 'fore Blanche gets out from D. You get 'em outside while I get Piper started making cheesecakes."
