The Box On the Lake
About seven months passed since the Atraxi visited Earth. Amy and Rory's lives were back to normal. For a few months Amy was in a deep depression because the doctor never came back but Amy grew strong and "accepted" the fact he was never coming back. Rory's seeing-the-coma-patients-walking-around-the-vilage-epsode was all forgotten by the attending doctor who told Rory to "take some time off" and now he is working as a nurse again. Rory even gathered the confidence to tell Amy he didn't want to be a "sort of boy friend" but an actual boyfriend.
Rory had his hands over Amy's eyes leading her towards a frozen pond witch had been turned into an ice rink for the winter.
"Rory where are you taking me?" Amy asked sounding a little frustrated.
"It's a surprise."
"Well hurry it up. I'm cold and I can feel my hands." Of course Amy was exaggerating they had only been walking for about a minute.
Rory removed his hands from Amy's eyes to revel the beautiful scenery. There was a blanket of snow around the lake. There were a few small trees all of there leaves were gone from there branches and they had dainty, little Christmas ornaments on them. The ice glittered and sparkled in the light of the setting sun.
"Oh Rory it's the pond where we skated as kids."
Amy reached out and hugged Rory in complete and utter happiness. The pond was one of the few places she felt safe as a kid. She was never sure why se was always so happy here. Maybe it was the wonder and enchantment of it all, but nevertheless it still had the same affect on her now as it did then.
"Come on lets put skates on just for old time sakes," Rory prompted. But little did Amy know Rory had something bigger planed than skating for old time sakes. Rory had rented the ice as to make sure no one else was there to mess up the perfect moment he had planed. They rented skates form the skate rental shack and laced them up and got on the ice.
Rory had come earlier that day to set up every thing and he wasn't keen on any thing going wrong.
"What's that?" Amy pointed to something in the middle of the pond.
"I don't know." Rory did know though, he had put it there earlier that day.
"Let's go have a look then." Amy and Rory skated off towards the mysterious thing on the ice only to find that the mysterious thing was a tiny ring box.
As they got closer Amy clasped her hand over her mouth in utter shock. Rory got down on one knee and picked up the box.
"Amy I have loved you for as long as I can remember and now all I want to know is will you marry me?" then he opened the box to reveal the sparkling diamond ring.
Amy nodded her head and in tears and said "of course."
Rory slipped the ring on her finger, stood up and kissed her as the sun set.
