AN: After such fast feedback, which I adored, I decided to write another story about Jack/Tooth as I'm procrastinating the completion of my homework. Please review! I do not own Rise of the Guardians.
…
He tells himself that he'll close his eyes for just one moment; that sleep won't happen because, after all, he's slept for 300 years. In truth, he's afraid of the thoughts and memories come back to haunt him.
Jack knows that fear is stupid. There's nothing to be afraid of. Pitch has been defeated, consumed by his own fear. Jack has everything that he's ever wanted now. There's no point in being scared.
But darkness envelopes him and he goes tumbling through the dark dream-sand in his mind. A wave of pain stabs his gut and he nearly screams when he sees his beloved staff-his power- snapped in two. It's just a memory the back of his mind says. It's just a dream.
It feels as real as ever.
Now Pitch-Jack's dream Pitch- stands over him, jeering as he announces he's defeated the others. "That can't be!" he feels himself screaming. Pitch couldn't possibly have; they had tried so hard and gotten others to believe. Pitch was just a distant memory turning into a nightmare.
Pitch shows lifeless forms stuck in a cage of North, Bunnymund, Sandy, Baby-tooth, and Tooth.
"You were too late, Jack," Pitch says. "You should have seen the look on their faces when all the lights went out."
He's referring to the children.
Jack starts to scream and cry as the dark dream-sand squeezes his body.
Just a dream. Just a dream. Just a dream.
But it feels so real.
He thrashes around in his covers and when he opens his eyes, he can't help but scream as he falls off the bed. He crumbles into the fetal position with his hands knotting themselves into the sheets.
The door bursts open and Tooth stands there, alarmed and worried about the sounds coming from Jack's room. And then she spots her fellow Guardian with a wild look on his face on the floor, just as hail begins to magically tumble down from the ceiling.
He's made it hail. He's scared.
Tooth scrambles to Jack's side, not minding some of the ice bits hitting her. She fights to loosen his grip on the sheets and sits him upright, whispering that she's there and that it was all just a nightmare.
Eventually the hail storm subsides and Jack tentatively opens his eyes again and looks directly in Tooth's violet eyes. She's worried he sees, and he notices that she looks back with a look of relief and apprehension. Tooth is about to say something, to ask if he's alright, but she isn't able to.
Jack is kissing her; just make sure she's not a dream.
