Hiiii!!! Well. -clears throat- this is sort of a short drabble-type thing. Yes, it's a songfic. Enjoy. Oh yeah-
I don't own Maximum Ride. I don't own the song Apologize.
"I'm real sorry, Fang."
We were standing in a middle of a clearing in a forest. She'd told me that we needed to talk, so we'd flown out here.
It's too late, I thought sadly. It's way too late.
"I need you. You're my right-hand man, and I'm really sorry for what I said before." Max shifted uncomfortably. I knew she wasn't used to this gushy love-type stuff.
I couldn't say anything. I'm holding on your rope, I thought, you got me ten feet off the ground.
I thought about what she'd done before. I'd tried to kiss her. I tried to tell her that I loved her. And what did she do? She ran away. Not once. Not twice. Three times. You tell me that you need me, the you go cut me down.
"I'm sorry. Please, Fang!" she begged.
I turned around to face her. I bet she didn't know what I was going to say.
"It's too late to apologize, it's too late," I said, my face an emotionless mask. A bit of my heart broke off when I said that. A little bit more broke off when I saw her reaction.
She looked at me with a blank expression, which I knew meant that she was trying to hide her feelings. She was trying to be strong.
"I said, it's too late, it's too late to apologize."
I remembered that time when we were on the dock -- the second time I decided to take a chance and tried to kiss her. I moved closer to her and seized the moment. After a few seconds, she ran away, leaving me there alone. She'd let me fall.
I need you like a heart needs a beat, but that's nothing new.
I needed to tell her. "I loved you with a red fire," I said. "But now it's turning blue."
She stared at me, with a look of hurt and confusion. I knew I could read her as easily as a book.
"And you say sorry, like an angel heaven let me think was you. But I'm afraid... that it's too late to apologize, it's too late."
I turned my back on her again and ran along the uneven ground. I shook my wings our and launched myself towards the moon. This time, I flew away.
As my dark wings pushed me into the air, I looked down at her, with my eyes prickling with moisture. I saw tears pouring out of her eyes. I whispered, "I'm holding on your rope, you got me ten feet off the ground. It's too late to apologize, it's too late."
Well, what d'ya think? Please, I'd love to know!!! Pink cotton candy for everyone!!! This may or may not be a oneshot. Ideas are loved. Oh yeah, and I want to make all the chapters based on a different song, so any ideas? xxx
