Draco opened his mouth, letting himself breathe deep and slow. He shut his eyes tight, grabbing the edge of the room until his fingers turned white. Finally he lifted his face and looked at the landscape before him. Then his gaze landed on the thing, flat rope tied between the two towers. It was dark outside and only dozens of stars lighted his way. Draco looked down and swallowed, seeing Potter.
This was a stupid bet and a really moronic idea- the blond was fully aware of that, but it was about honour. Draco didn't want to be second, not again. For once he wanted to do something that Potter didn't dare to. The blond stood up and stepped on the line.
Draco Malfoy was scared to death and terrified, but he kept pushing every thought away from himself. He took deep breaths as he took a few first steps. He whimpered in fear when the rope bent underneath his weight a blond was just glad he took all those classes when he was little. He shook a bit when the wind blew a little bit harder and he felt tears welling up in his eyes. Draco cursed in his head, blinking rapidly, trying to get rid of the tears and keep his balance.
Down below him a frantic boy-who-lived tried to imagine how to get them out of this situation. Malfoy was stubborn and about to do something very stupid. Harry cursed himself for speaking before thinking and proposing this as a challenge. He just wanted Malfoy down on the ground and safe. If he makes it Harry would hug the shit out of him begging not to do shit like that ever again.
For the first time he regretted not taking Draco's hand and becoming his friend. They wouldn't be in this situation if he did so. He watched in shock as Draco made his way across the rope and he fell to his knees, sobbing helplessly, when he saw the blond nearly jump on the other tower. Harry sobbed quietly in relief, being grateful that Malfoy made it out alive. He rolled onto his back and took off his glasses. He lied there in silence for a longest time until he saw a silhouette above himself. He put his glasses on as Draco sat next to him. The blond was shaking in shock, arms around himself. Harry sat up, wrapping an arm around Malfoy. "I'm so fucking sorry. God, I wished you didn't do it. How did you pull that off though?" Potter looked at him, rubbing circles on Malfoy's back hoping he'd be alright.
"Don't ask me. All I've ever done is train sword fighting." Draco answered in a shaky voice. "Oh Gods, I'm never doing that again! Don't even try to propose something like that next time! I just proved I'm stupid enough to do it." The blond said breathing quickly in panic.
Harry nodded, hugging him close and Draco buried his face in his hands. They sat like that for a moment trying to return to normality. "I want to go sleep. I'm not feeling well."
"I'll walk you back. You're paler than Malfoy." Draco rolled his eyes, but the corners of his mouth twitched. Harry stood up and helped the blond up. Malfoy was a bit shaky as the adrenaline stopped working and they walked back to the castle under the invisible coat.
