A proposal

David walked towards Sam's front door, his hands in his trouser pockets. He was going to have a meal with her family. But he was still nervous. Mr Madison opened the door smiling.

"Hello Mr Madison," David said respectfully as he walked through the door. He wasn't that worried because Sam's dad new what he was planning to do. But he was worried on how Mrs Madison was going to react.

"You ready?" he asked David as they walked into the dining room. David nodded.

"I think so," he told him as he saw Sam helping Lucy and Harold set the table. She smiled when she saw him. Over the years Sam had gotten even more beautiful.

She walked over to him and kissed his cheek. "Hey," she whispered as her mom walked in with Rebecca, carrying plates of food. David pulled on Sam's hand so she couldn't go sit down. She looked at him curiously. He tried to pretend that her family and Harold weren't watching.

"Sam I need to ask you something," he said before kneeling down in front of her. "I fell for you the day I met you. If I promise to love you forever, will you marry me?" he asked, watching her face for her reaction as he got out a box and showed her a ring.

Sam stared at him, her face expressionless. It would kill him is she said no. he'd completely forgotten about her watching family. Mrs Madison's eyes darted from her daughter to David and back again. Sam had tears falling down her cheeks.

"Yes," she whispered. David smiled and put the ring on her finger. Then he stood up and pulled her into his arms. He kissed her softly before whispering, "I love you". She smiled.

"I love you too," she told him as she took his hand and they sat down. Mr Madison lifted his glass and everyone copied him.

"Welcome to the family," he said smiling as everyone agreed.
