Her body sank to the ground but not just from exhaustion, but also from sadness.
Her hands caressed her husband's cold face. Tears leaked from her eyes, dripping down her cheeks and onto his chest, but he remained still no matter what she did.
The blood from the wound on the side of her mixed in with her tears but she didn't care.
Her husband had died defending their home, she thought angrily.
She would have shouted from rage but she did have the energy, she just didn't care anymore.
Her friends protected her from all around her, saving her from the foes that surrounded her.
One bent down and touched the deep gash in her side that was killing her. Concern filled his dark eyes, but when they met hers she shook her head sadly.
It was then he realised – she didn't want to live. She would be happy now, joining all those who she loved but had lost before her.
He took her small hand between his two large ones. He kissed her cheek and met her eyes for the last time.
Nodding his head in a sad farewell, he stood up, wiped the tears from his cheeks, and took up his sword once more to continue to fight.
She saw a man creep up to her, she recognised him, – he was the one who had killed her husband. With a yell of fury she threw her dagger at him and smiled triumphantly when he fell to the ground.
An arrow pierced her chest. Rather than cry out with pain she smiled.
She was accepting something, for the second time in her life.
She let the darkness take her, but not before she looked at her dear husband's face and whispered, "See you soon laddie-buck."

In another world, she walked alone, looking for one man.
A man turned to her, his hazel eyes shining with mischeif and laughter. His grin warmed her heart as she ran into his arms, content to stay there forever.

And with that the world witnessed the death of the first female knight in 200 years.
The death of a hero,
The death of a Champion,
The death of a Lioness,
The death of Alanna.
