Finally, my summer vacations have started! I'm free like the wind!
And since I no longer have school to worry about for the next two and a half months - along with the fact that I'm gonna take vacations to Disney World in September, I decided to give another try at making a Kingdom Hearts story.
Now, as you probably (or maybe not) know, I already wrote a KH fanfic named "Kingdom Hearts: The Immortal Dream", but I kinda lost motivation to write it. So instead, I decided to start this new one and made some planning on how to write it as to make sure it can be long-term fanfic. I hope it will pay-off.
Before we start, however, I must warn you that this story is VERY AU and had nothing to do with the games. I chose that formula because it gives me more freedom for the story.
With that being said, let's get started!
DRING! DRING! DRING!
"Hmm... Huh? Oh no! I've slept in!"
14 years old Sora quickly pushed himself out of his bed and wasted no time running to his wardrobe. Tossing his pajama away, the brown-haired boy quickly took out his usual clothes and wasted no time putting them on. That didn't stop him from giving a lot to himself in the mirror for good measure. His outfit consisted of a Mickey Mouse-style outfit, containing large yellow shoes, a white and black jacket as well as a red jumpsuit and a pair of white and yellow gloves with his signature crown necklace and crown chain.
Smiling to himself, Sora quickly ran out of his hut and out into the fresh air of Destiny Island. The place where he was born and lived all of his life on. But even then, he always felt the same joy at seeing the blue sky and sea, pure air, sweet smell of fruits and salt, but mostly the peaceful atmosphere.
However, today was a special day as most of Sora's friends were gathered on the island's beach to wish him goodbye. Indeed, this was the day that young Sora had been waiting for since he was nine years old. The day he would finally get to leave Destiny Island venture outside to see the world and go search for the Kingdom Hearts.
"Sora! You finally came!" a young boy beamed upon seeing his brown-haired friend arriving on the beach. "About time, what took you so long?"
"Huh...I kinda...slept in...again," Sora admitted with rubbing the back of his head.
"We kinda figured out," a blonde boy said.
Sora chuckled and then walked off to the shore and onto the little craft that he built a few years ago specially for this day. "Hey, if you're going out to the sea, then you should take my old fishing boat, Sora," one of the villagers said. "You'll sink right away if you take that thing."
"A watercraft? Come on," someone else said.
However, Sora just chuckled at his friends. "I'm fine with this. My journey begins right now!" He then turned to look at the horizon ahead of him. "Kairi! Riku! The day has come! I'm finally going out to the sea too!"
A young girl giggled on the beach. "Kairi was first. Riku was second. And now, it's Sora's turn."
"He has a lot of run-ups to do if he wanna catch up with them, Selfie," a blonde boy said.
"I'm sure he can do it, Tidus," the young girl named Selfie replied.
Sora looked down at his crown necklace and smiled while holding it between his fingers. "I'm the third to go...but I won't lose! Wait for me, guys, I'll catch up to you soon!" He then turned toward his friends one last time. "Alright, I'm going now!"
Sora untied the ropes holding his watercraft and finally sailed away toward the sea. Using his two paddles, he pushed himself away from Destiny Island as his friends cheered and shouted words of encouragement to him. While paddling, the young boy looked up at the bright sky that was as blue as his own eyes.
"I made a good choice for my day to leave..."
However, a shadow cast over him, bringing him out of his happy thoughts. Turning around, Sora saw a pretty big sea snake glaring down at him with big, red eyes and growling. The young boy sat up on his watercraft.
"You...we meet again, huh?" Sora then smirked. "You used to scare me a lot as a kid...but now, I'm much STRONGER. Just like Kairi and Riku. I'm not afraid of you anymore."
Raising his hand in the air, Sora made a light appear which slowly took the form of an object in his hand. After barely a few seconds, the light turned into Sora's faithful weapon, the Keyblade.
(I don't really need to explain to you what it is; every KH fans know what the Keyblade is)
Taking momentum, Sora jumped in the air, slashed his Keyblade across the sea snake's forehead, and then gracefully landed back on his watercraft. The monster roared in pain and left as quickly as it came. "I sure hope you liked this attack; I spent a lot of time practicing and training with my Keyblade," Sora chuckled before looking toward the horizon.
It was the dawn of a new adventure. Sora's path to Kingdom Hearts had started.
