A/N Post ep to "Fool In The Rain"

I don't own Covert Affairs I just like playing with the characters and because there are not enough good Jai fics out there.

YOU LOOK LIKE YOU'VE SEEN A GHOST

"What's the matter, Annie? You look like you've seen a ghost." Jai asked confused by the expression on her face. Even though he couldn't see their expressions Auggie could definitely feel the sudden tension in the room. "What's going on?" he asked.

"Nothing," Annie said quickly giving Jai another look and picking up her beer.

."Nothing," the other agent repeated sitting down also.

After a couple of minutes Jai abruptly set his beer on the table and reached into his pocket for his wallet. "If you'll excuse me I really need to be getting home," he said, dropping some money on the table.

Once they were alone, Auggie said, "Okay. Now what is going on? Jai comes over to brag about his skill at darts and suddenly you can cut the tension in the room with a knife."

"It's really nothing," Annie insisted taking a sip of her beer.

"Now why don't I really believe that?" Auggie commented.

"Hey, I just remembered that I promised to help Dannielle tonight," Annie said after a few minutes. "I'll see you tomorrow."

""Leaving me here all by my lonesome?' Auggie joked making an attempt at humor.

"Oh, come on. As soon as I leave that blonde who's been eying you since I sat down is gonna make her move on you," Annie replied getting to her feet and heading for the door.

Once she arrived aback at the guesthouse Annie kicked off her shoes and lay back on the bed reaching for the shell bracelet. As she slipped it on she let her thoughts drift back to Sri Lanka and Ben.

Ben Mercer had been just a charmingly handsome man she'd made acquaintance with. That had rapidly turned to love. Now as they strolled among the marketplace in Colombo she was facing the decision to either continue her planned travel itinerary or to stay with Ben. Stopping to check out a vendor's wares, Annie looked up to see the slender figure in a baseball cap who appeared to be watching them intently. Dismissing the stranger from her mind she turned her attention back to Ben.

The beach was beautiful and they had ran hand in hand barefoot like two young lovers until the rain forced them to seek shelter in their hut overlooking the ocean. As she chattered about places to go next and canceling her flight Ben had seemed distracted staring out at the beach and saying something about going to get his sandals. When Annie turned back from making the call to the airport she looked out the window to see him arguing with who appeared to be the stranger from the marketplace.

Now after seeing Jai wearing the baseball cap she couldn't help but wonder if he was the man she'd seen in Sri Lanka.
