So, I got FANG for Christmas, right? So, naturally, I start rereading some of my favorite parts. Then I started reading the part where the flock splits up again (which is NOT a favorite, I assure you) and lo and behold, an idea was born! Well, here is said idea in its finished form!
"You want me to go?" Max asked. No one responded. "Okay, then. Later." Then she turned and ran out of the house, leaping into the sky and flying away at hyperspeed.
There was a stunned silence, during which Fang's hands curled into fists and anger bubbled up inside him. "Do you know," he said, his quiet voice quivering with anger, "who that is?" He felt everyone's eyes on him. "Do you know who you just kicked out?" he repeated softly.
Then he spun around to face the broken flock. "DO YOU KNOW WHO SHE IS?" he roared, letting his anger show without any attempt to conceal it. Everyone was shocked at this outburst.
"She is Maximum Ride!" he screamed at them. "We've known her our whole lives! Since the very beginning!"
"She is the glue that held this flock together when somebody didn't!" he spat at Jeb.
"She took care of us, since she was just twelve years old, made sure we had everything we needed! Always," he yelled at Gazzy.
"She taught us to be strong! She protected us with everything she had and never gave up on us!" Fang directed this at Iggy.
"She helped us with anything we needed and tried her hardest to be fair. She always knew what to do!" he yelled, glaring at Angel.
"She put up with us when we argued and complained! She comforted us when we were sick or injured. She never let us down!" Fang yelled at Nudge.
"She is faster, smarter, braver, and stronger than all of us combined! She kept you alive for years! She loves you all more than could ever know! She would DIE FOR YOU..." he paused, "if it came down to that."
"Now, after all she did for you, you would tell her to leave? That is sick! That is cruel and wrong! I have known you guys for a long, long time, but I never would have imagined that you would do this. You just threw your friend" -dagger eyes at Iggy- "your sister" -dagger eyes at Nudge- "your mother" -dagger eyes at Gazzy- "and your leader" -dagger eyes at Angel- "out of her own flock." The venom in Fang's voice was scary.
"I would understand if you were angry at me," Fang said, his fury dying. "If you wanted me gone, this would make a lot more sense. I am not the one you owe your lives a hundred times over. Max is the best leader you could ask for..." he looked sadly at his family before him. Then he changed his face back into its usual expression of no emotion.
"...but I guess you'll figure that out for yourselves."
And with that, Fang turned, ran, and jumped into the air, flying after Max.
How's about that? Fang showing emotion and all ;) I just couldn't imagine that Fang didn't try to defend Max at this point. I mean, I was incredibly angry with the flock at this point. I could only imagine that Fang was as well.
