911 – Meredith Grey
And Cristina is racing towards Trauma 1, praying that her pager is wrong, that she isn't about to face what she's dreading.
She is breathless and babbling when she arrives, demanding confirmation but not wanting to hear it, trying desperately to believe what she knows isn't true.
And then Alex grabs her arm, and quite abruptly, quite bluntly, tells her that it is Meredith.
'Oh.'
The word just slips out, she isn't truly aware that she's said it. Izzie takes it as shock, and begins to talk, to explain, and Cristina's first comment is quickly followed by another.
'Oh.'
And Izzie is explaining because she has to, she needs the others to believe that everything will be okay, but they just aren't listening. Alex is cold and staring into space, George is too busy hating her, and Cristina is more lost than she has ever been.
'Oh.'
Cristina's third repetition is garbled, twisted, tight, as though reality is settling in and she is about to be sick. Izzie isn't sure how to react, and so she keeps talking, keeps pushing forward, keeps explaining, because she needs them to believe with her. Needs them to know that Meredith will be okay. She just can't not be.
And then, silently gathering her courage, Izzie leans forward and hugs Cristina. The other intern doesn't resist, but doesn't do much of anything else either. Her right arms stays tucked against her front, now held there by Izzie's body, her hand limp under her chin. The other arm stays dead by her side. Izzie rests her head on Cristina's shoulder, talking into her ear but speaking to them all.
'Meredith is going to be okay.'

I'm a liar; I am going to post this one tonight too. I know that it's similar to my other Grey's fic, but I really like them both, and I haven't written in forever, so I hope that you like both of them. I know that this isn't exactly how this scene went, but somehow I have misplaced the tape that has this episode on it, so I'll be sure to come back and correct anything that needs fixing in the future when I find and watch said tape.
