There are better ways to love, he thought.
He was quite foolish for waltzing himself in a trap that he created himself. Perhaps because he had over worked himself to the point of exhaustion; his brain didn't have sufficient oxygen to even conceive a proper thought. But he genuinely just wanted to lighten the mood. It's not everyday that a beautiful woman would inquire about your love life because she wishes to write one, even if it's to be a one sided love.
"Yes," But it was a lie. But her curious eyes had searched him for answers and he didn't want to disappoint those amethyst eyes that were filled with hope and probably ideas. They had lighted up quite beautifully the moment that one word rolled off his tongue.
"May I ask who?"
He tried his best to suppress laughter because he really thought of digging himself deeper with his lies. Should he go on with the lie? What should he say next? Yes, once upon a time. Ah, but to speak as if one has experience would be futile wouldn't it? She would want him to describe his feelings, what happened. What's her name? There were too many questions to be answered if he was to choose that route.
Maybe, should he dare?
"I'm looking at her this very moment,"
The lady didn't falter. She was very bold, as she locked eyes with him. It's not like she was inexperience with the matters of the heart. Simple flattery wouldn't go anywhere…not like he had any intention to really pursue her.
She was flattered, she told him. But then she took it a bit further by advising him that saying such things so lightly would lose it's impact especially when one wants it to mean the most.
He was annoyed. He dealt her with the most serious look he could master, masking his annoyance, "I am serious,"
Oh, but the lady wouldn't have it. She let it slide with a chuckle, and quickly dismissed him shortly after. So she would have none of it, his fake tendre for her. His annoyance became his inspiration for the next days to come.
