"Hey Seaweed Brain," Annabeth greeted me breezily as she walked through the door, planting a peck on my cheek.

"Annabeth, hey, how would you feel about a picnic with Nico and Will? They called me and invited us, said they had some pretty big news," I asked, wondering in my head what it could possibly be.

"Oh my gods, yes! When and where? What should we bring? I bet I know what the news is!" she excitedly responded. I sighed, chuckled, and thought for a moment.

"Well… They said they wanted to as soon as we could. Are we busy today?" I asked, avoiding admitting the fact that I had absolutely no clue what the news could be. I was pretty sure our calendar was free for the day, and that we would have enough time to get something pulled together in time for a picnic, so I figured it was worth a shot.

"Nope, and I think I could even make some cupcakes and sandwiches to take with us. Call Nico back and ask if today around 4 works." She ordered. I complied and relayed the messages between the two as my Wise Girl scrambled to make some blue cupcakes in time.

4 hours later, sandwiches and cupcakes in hand, we arrived in Central Park at the spot Nico and Annabeth had agreed on through me. There we saw our two friends kissing passionately on the blanket laid out by the tree, oblivious to life around them.

"Ahem…" Annabeth cleared her throat awkwardly and startled Will who practically leaped off of Nico. Both boys were bright red with embarrassment.

"Oh, Annabeth, hi, sorry, didn't see you there, uh, h-how long h-have you been there?" Will stammered still flushed. Annabeth simply laughed, however, and said just for a moment and not to be worried. Will and Nico both looked relieved.

We set up out picnic and began catching back up. We filled the guys in on our lives in college, and they both kept smiling at each other like idiots. What is going on with them? I get that they are dating but seriously… I thought to myself.

"Annabeth, Percy. Nico and I have some news." Will stated, finally feeling the time was right to share the "Big News". "You heard that gay marriage was legalized nationwide, right?" he inquired. I nodded, feeling horribly obtuse but still very confused, as Annabeth nearly squealed "I knew it!"

"Okay, so?" I asked. Annabeth looked at me with her "Are you really that stupid that it needs to be spelled out for you?" look. That was when I noticed the thin silver band on each boy's ring finger. Engagement rings! I realized.

"Will and I are getting married!" Nico proclaimed, probably the happiest I had ever heard the younger boy in my life. He and Will looked at each other, smiling, like they couldn't be happier.

"Seriously, I know I call you Seaweed Brain, but I didn't actually think your head was full of it…" Annabeth grumbled as Nico and Will kissed again (although not NEARLY as passionately).
