With my current game obsession getting in the way of my life, I have taken it upon myself to write this! I may do more later down the line, but for now, please enjoy my fluff and the 'small' crush I may or may not have of our android boi!
This is set after e 'good ending' of the game, where androids have been provided equal rights to humans, people look less and less afraid at the 'deviants' roam the streets. Connor is reassigned to work with Hank and is now also living with the man.
Connor x OC
I own nothing only my made up story and my OC's, please read, review and send coffee! Thank you! Plus!

Chapter one - Foreign intelligence
With the new laws that were now underway for androids to start getting their rights, the city was now a buzzing hub of life and energy. Filled with a better air as it were, but there was still a few groups of people that still hated androids and continued their opinion that there should not be an equal right put in for these 'things'!
With these groups causing problems and other problems starting to arise, like the red ice drug ring having a bigger stance now that the android market had gone bust, the precinct was also buzzing, but with the frantic work of both humans and androids. But other groups had been pulled in from all over the world to train and learn the ways of how to deal with the androids new found freedom, and how to deal with groups of protesters against them. This was overseen by Fowler, happy to see that it would also be a help for other forces over the globe. Though he only agreed to let his department go under this training if his city would be covered. This was not a problem and had more than enough cover to keep the force up to full capacity.
While the training was going well, the androids who had applied for their roles in the station were slowly reintroduced into their roles, given paperwork they were to sign, they were also to be paid which was something that would be strange to consider if you were just programmed to do a job for free. But some were just happy that they didn't need to change every aspect of their existence.
Hank had taken Connor in as he had a spare room he was not using anyway, with his fake grudge and shrug that he didn't care if he stayed or not….Connor could see tell that he was just happy not to be alone again, what with the loss of his son, Cole.
-oOo-
Both made their way into the station, Hank holding his head with one hand as if it might fall off. With a late night visiting Jimmy's Bar after a particularly stressful protest against androids...again, he was now nursing a huge hangover. Connor offered to help him but Hank remembered the last time he tried to 'help' his sober up, right before going to the Eden Club months before. "Like fuck, you will…" he grumbled and slowly got ready.
Connor was still getting used to being deviant, although it was still a complicated and stressful experience...both of which he did not know how to deal with due to the fact these were new emotions, he felt liberated to still be helping and working somewhere familiar.
When reaching their desks, Connor had already scanned and saw the new two desks a few spaces from their own ones. The cleaned up desks had boxes on them with office supplies stacked, ready to be organised and filed. Connor was staring before Hank threw a piece of screwed up paper at him to gain his attention. The android looked across to Hank with his calm expression.
"Are you listening Connor?" He asked, eyebrows in a frown, though not a very tight one, as it would cause a sharp pain, like a brain freeze or a pressure headache. Connor blinked a few times before glancing back to the cleaned desks.
"Sorry Hank...I was curious." He admitted before adjusting himself to get on with filing the case report from the day before. It didn't take long for the sound of people talking to come around from the corner, Fowler showing three people around the office. Hank couldn't give a rats ass and put his headphones on with loud blaring music, though he might regret it later on. Connor, on the other hand, couldn't help but scan over them, trying to be subtle while typing on his computer.
The first two were men: one an African America, stocky build similar to the captain with a short haircut with shaved sides, brown eyes, a stiff look and a groomed beard that lined his jaw. He was dressed in a three-piece suit, a grey charcoal colour with a black tie, very neat and tidy. The other was a very thin Asian man, black hair sweeping across his forehead, metal-rimmed glasses sitting across his nose, hiding the dark brown. He was also wearing a two-piece suit, but a lot more casual than the first, a light grey suit, white shirt with a turquoise tie. A small look of wonder across his face as he took notes on what the captain was talking about, not even looking at the tablet he was typing on as they walked. It was only then Connor realised he was also an android, though the make of his was not recognisable, after scanning him for a few seconds more, he realised he wasn't even an American build.
Following them, a shorter woman, Caucasian and pale with clusters of freckles, green eyes and light blonde hair in a ponytail while little bits curled softly around her face. She was in a smart formal skirt suit, glasses framing her face and holding a bag, but unlike a ladies handbag, and a coat over her arm. A small smile crossed her face as she was also looking around the office as she listened.
"And we have already set you up with your own corner of the office so please make it your own space while you are with us, for however long or short that may be Watkins." Fowler pushed for a smile to the human man, who only nodded in agreement.
"Very generous of you Fowler, though I am to head off to my own sector, I leave you with inspector Johnson and her droi-"
"Partner…" the woman, Johnson, piped up and turned to the two larger men, smiling and polite, but a firm push to correct the man. "Sergeant Aaron Collins in my partner sir, not my android, they have their rights here now too, Chief superintendent Watkins..." The older of the two puffed up his chest before correcting himself.
"'Partner'...both who are very capable in their own right...Till next week Fowler" the men shook hands and he left. Fowler let out a breath and looked to the two newcomers, the woman still smiling softly and pointed to the desk.
"We'll keep out of trouble Captain." She promised and her and Aaron made their way over to their desks and started to unpack the boxes on top of them. As Fowler moved to his office, Connor righted himself...but throughout the morning, he glanced at the two new additions to the department, which didn't go unnoticed by some people. What Connor noticed first when they spoke, they all had a British accent, more specifically, middle to upper-class air about it.
"You realise just staring is kinda weird?" Hank cleared his throat, looking a bit better, now a large cup of coffee sat on his desk. The RK800 frowned softly to himself and continued to type on his computer.
"I'm just-"
"Curious, I know, you said before…" Hank smirked, "Your humans showing again..." He huffed a laugh.
-oOo-
"Inspector Johnson, where would you like your new books?" Aaron asked, holding three or four wire bound sketchbooks. The woman smiled and put her hands out to take them, sat at the desk and placed them on one of the shelves under the surface of the desk.
"You can call me Charlie when it is just us talking Aaron..." She laughed and shook her head, the desk now looked in use and even had a few personal touches, a small cactus 'tiger tooth' which had a small white pot to hold it. "And I think I'm all done, how about you?" She looked over, each book, pad, pen and even photo frame put in a specific point, lined up perfectly. She leaned on her desk and admired the immaculate look of the desk. "That's good...but do you know what we should do?" Aaron regarded her for a moment before watching her lean further forward and poke the line of pens to go squiffy. She grinned at his pout as he went to straighten them again "No?" copying his pout.
"You need sleep...or tea-"
"Oh if you are offering!" She put her sweetest smile on and leaned on her hands, blinking. Aaron smiled back at her and went to the break room as if he already had the route planning in his head "No sugar please!" She called after him, getting a wave off as if to say he knew. Charlie signed and leaned back on her chair, adjusting her hair while looking around the office. As she looked about, she caught a man glance in her direction, as she watched him for a moment, he did it again and looked a little bit like a deer in headlights, if only subtly. Not unattractive...far from it….the androids here were very pretty. Charlie smiled at him politely then jumped as the body next to her as if they had snuck up on her, though she wasn't really paying attention.
"New to the city?" A man, an somewhat attractive smile, if not a little cocky and overbearing. He sat on the edge of her desk and crossed arms over his chest. She looked him up and down, wondering who he was. "I must say, I heard you come in and that accent is just...adorable." He laughed and the corner of his mouth lifted slightly. Charlie cocked her eyebrow.
"Um, thank you, I think?" She gave an awkward laugh and watched him for a moment, he offered his hand, still trying to come across as charming.
"Detective Reed, Gavin if you prefer?" She shook his hand and nodded.
"Inspector Johnson, nice to meet you detective Reed." she was formal and polite, but the tenseness in her jaw was slowly getting tighter. Gavin smiled and moved around the desk to look at her set up.
"You've settled in nicely already then? Surprised they are giving anyone a job anymore, not with the revolution that happened." He was trying to make it come across light-hearted...but she heard the disdain in his voice...if only just. She was a bit wary of his angst towards androids. By then, Aaron had come back with a glass of water and a cup of tea now, ready to place it down, but Gavin took it. Going to drink it but looked at the drink with a frown "What kind of coffee is that?"
"It is tea, a beverage famously consumed in the united kingdom, although is also found all over the world. It is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured leaves of the Camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub native to East Asia." Aaron blink, happy to inform his new college, which wasn't well received apparently. Aaron looked to Charlie for confirmation, but she was just watching Gavin with a slight frown….waiting.
"I know what tea is you plastic know it all….Sorry about that, it's probably still getting used to the new arrangements of people….want to get a proper drink from Detroit?" He totally disregarded Aaron and smiled down at the small blonde, but was taken back by the very neutral but stern expression on her face. She stood and brushing out her skirt as she did so, she only came up to his shoulder and took the cup from him.
"No thank you, I'd quite like to stay here and drink my cup of tea Aaron so kindly made for me," Gavin looked a little pale as he realised what had just happened. Charlie took off her glasses off and placed them down on the desk, straightening them slightly and looked back up at the man, tea still in her hand. "And no, I find coffee to be too bitter on my pallet as well as your disregard for my partner. Now I have work to get to, nice meeting you detective Reed..." She smiled again and picked up one of her books, tucking it under her arm with a pen tucked behind her ear, then made her way through the office, Aaron following, but not before smiling brightly at Gavin.
"Good to meet you, detective Reed!" Then followed Charlie. Gavin stood there gobsmacked that he had ballsed that up so quickly. When the new pair were out of earshot, Hank couldn't hold it anymore and laughed with a gruff undertone.
"Shot yourself in the food aye, Gavin?" He looked up and saw the man go red, Connor also now looking up properly.
"Shut your mouth, Hank. And don't you dare open yours." He pointed at Connor before rushing off to busy himself. Connor followed him with his eyes till he was out of sight, and felt the tug of…..was that a smirk?...lots of curiosities today.
-oOo-
It was a couple of days later when Charlie and Aaron were spotted in the office again, having to juggle between going from the old, temporary office to the main police station. The desks where they were sat, originally so tidy, now covered in notes, post-it-notes, pencils of all sizes and screwed up bits of paper. But the books that Charlie seemed carry with her got locked away in her desk securely, protectively almost.
Connor was on his way through the office when he noticed Charlie and the android Aaron make their way with a woman and a little boy (5 or 6), Aaron holding his hand as he held a toy close to his chest. He looked to see if Hank was still on break before heading to the same location. The room the four headed towards was a little further away than other questioning rooms, but then again, Connor couldn't recall actually even coming to this part of the station. Charlie leaned down to speak with the boy and smiled, offering her hand and the went off into a separate area while Aaron took the woman somewhere else. Following quietly, Connor went into the adjoining room, the mirror in the room was his window in, looking into a colourful room. He was confused but took the time to scan, toys and paper with crayons on a round table, bean bags around it and rugs, a large tablet on the wall so people could draw….or more specifically...children.
Charlie, wearing a light cream suit and her heels next to her, was sitting on one of the red bean bags, legs crossed as she spoke with the little boy who was playing with the blocks on the table. One of her books currently, he eyes flickering from the page to the boy. Connor cocked his head and looked between the two, listening.
"So what was your favourite thing to do today? Mum take you to get ice cream right?" the inspector asked, smiling as she looked like she wrote something down. The boy nodded and pushed the blocks over. "And what was the flavour you chose?" She asked, again, jotting something down that didn't seem to matter. The boy was silent for a moment, looking at the fallen blocks before him. Charlie wait patiently and just smiled, happy to watch him play.
"Lemon…" he had a soft lisp as he spoke, now placing the blocks on top of each other. Charlie nodded with a pleased expression.
"That's a brave choice! Is that because you are brave?" He nodded quickly with a smile. "And brave boys help people don't they?" Again he smiled with a vigorous nod this time. "So tell me about last time you got ice cream…" The boy stopped smiling and looked down, But Charlie continued "You got chocolate last time? Your favourite right?" He nodded slowly. "And do you remember what your sister got?" She pressed softly, hand hovering over the page.
"Nil-Vinil-lan…" he stuttered, but Connor could see he was becoming upset, but Charlie smiled, trying to keep him calm. He couldn't understand what all these questions could be for and what use they had been almost mute at this point.
"Ah, I much prefer chocolate," the boy smiled then it disappeared again. "When you were walking home with her, which way did you go? I remember you saying you liked going through the park right?" He nodded but had now stopped playing, looking down at the paper and crayons. Slowly he picked up a blue one and started to draw, which got the woman intrigued, but she stayed put.
"We...were playing in the fields….next to the park, but the Amme had to go…" Charlie now sat up straight "She was called over by the man and he told me to go home cause Amme had to help with something important…" With the boy slowly opening up, Connors LED was going yellow, trying to process the use of this exercise.
"And what was he wearing Devon? Or colo-..." she looked down at his picture and smiled. "Is your favourite colour Blue?" The boy nodded "Was he wearing blue too?" he again nodded. "May I see your drawing?" She asked and he stood, walking over to her and handing it to the officer. She regarded it for a moment and smiled at him. "You're a very brave boy, and you will be so strong one day, big enough to match that huge heart of yours ok?" He sniffed and wiped his eyes. Charlie stood and offered her hand, the two left the room.
When they exited, Charlie looked around and saw someone walking around the corner, thinking it to be odd, but ignored the feeling and went to find Devon's mother.
