Mission: Accepted
Standard Legal Crap: Gundam Wing does not belong to me (I wish) nor do any of the characters or Gundams. This is just my take on what happened before Gundam Wing occurred. (Oh, and if this has any discrepancies, please disregard them. It's meant to be a one shot fic.)
Heero was training. This mission was going to be the big one. He'd been training all his life for this. He was going to head for Earth, a place he'd never been before. He didn't know the true purpose of his mission yet. The true secrets of Operation Meteor were still secrets to him. He just knew he was doing this to free the colonies from oppression. But the astute Perfect Soldier knew that something else was going on. Dekim Barton had relayed orders to Doctor J, saying that some sort of colony strike would happen soon.
"And then we can started on our road to glory." Yeah right. "Glory my ass." Heero thought." He knew all that Barton wanted was to rule, and that he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. But still, it was not his duty to question his mission. Just then, the loudspeaker came on.
"Heero! Report to the hanger immediately. It concerns you and your mission. Heero went right away. He knew this was serious.
"Dr. J, what's wrong?" Heero asked when he arrived. "Has the mission been altered?"
"Yes. You see, Dekim Barton is the man who has been relaying orders to me. He has been the one who coordinated your missions. Now, he wishes to strike the final blow against planet Earth. He plans on destroying L5's balancing mechanism, so that it hurls toward Earth." Doctor J paused at that moment. "He sent me a transmission, saying that the strike on Earth would happen in less than a month. Your mission was to go to Earth on Wing Gundam and gain control over the panicked region, along with four other pilots." He paused again.
Heero couldn't believe what he was hearing. This is what he had been training for all his life? No. He would not do this, even though his humanity and free will were basically buried, he refused to do this. But as he was about to protest, Doctor J raised a hand to forestall him.
"Unfortunately for Dekim, I won't do that. You see, you will be taking orders from me now. If there are other orders, disregard them unless I say otherwise. Dekim will not accomplish his plan. Listen, when you reach Earth, attempt to join up with the other pilots. Help them. Don't let Earth have this fate. Heero… please do this. If you don't, the Earth may as well be under Dekim's control already. So, I ask you this: will you do it?"
Heero knew he had to. He wouldn't let Earth be destroyed. Even if it cost him his life.
"Mission accepted."
