Len Kagamine is busily stuffing his bag as the rest of his class walked away. School today has been over for him, but he doesn't seem to hang out or anything.
"Hey, Len-kun," his best friend, Kaito, said from behind, "Wanna hang out for a moment?" "Why?" "Because some of the girls from our class want to watch a movie with us."
Len looked up at him, and shook his head. "Sorry," he replied. "Whenever these girls want me, tell them I might be busy or something," and with that, he strode off away from the classroom. "Sayonara, Kaito."
"Sayonara, Len."
Although Len is unable to say out what is wrong with himself, the truth is: He is actually short. Real short for a 15-year-old student. His head only reached to the chest of any schoolboy or schoolgirl. Len wished that he was born tall, but that would never work since his mother, Lenka, isn't tall either. Since the day everyone got to socialise with one another at school, Len tried to make friends with some girls, but they all neglected him, saying, "Just look at yourself. We bet that no girl wants to be friends with you."
From that time onwards Len tried to keep himself from anyone in his class, save for Kaito. They did chat with one another, but Len rarely got to speak to him about his problem.
After eating an ice-cream he bought on the way back, Len headed home and entered the house. "I'm home!" he cried out.
"Welcome home, Len." his mother said. "How's your day?" "Fine, for the 9,453,214th time." Len replied with a lot of doubt. "Don't tell what happened then." and with that he took off his shoes, and went upstairs.
"Did you make friends with any girls?"
"For the last time, Mum, none of the goddamned girls want to be friends with me! Don't come to me saying that question again!"
Grumbling, Len made his way to his room and shoved his bag on the bed. While his little sister Rin (who was six years old) was busy sleeping in her basket next to his bed, he put on his regular green T-shirt and blue jeans, took out his homework and went on with his usual life.
