title: nantes

pairing: unrequited derrick/massie (massington)

summary: "oh non, je t'en prie. nous ne sommes pas chez nous." unrequited derrick/massie, implied james/massie.

a/n: Again, this one-shot is based on another song called Nantes by Beirut. The summary translates to, "Oh no, I beg you. We are not home."

Well, it's been a long time, long time now

since I've seen you smile

{=}

It was a gorgeous night in Nantes. The colours of the sunset like oils on a canvas. Massie had just glanced up from her plate when she spotted a familiar head of dirty blond hair at the restaurant entrance.

{=}

And I'll gamble away my fright

and I'll gamble away my time

{=}

Her face perked up instantaneously. She stood up, pushing the chair behind her into an unsteady motion. The brunette's voice trembled with a tinge of eagerness that hadn't been heard in years.

"Derrick?"

{=}

And in a year, a year or so

this will slip into the sea

{=}

There was no answer. She tried again, though to no avail. James shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

"Massie, love, are you okay? People are kind of staring..." he trailed off.

{=}

Well, it's been a long time, long time now

since I've seen you smile

{=}

She faltered. No, it's not okay. It never has been.

A smile plastered her face.

"Oh, yeah, of course. I just thought I saw somebody."

Nobody raise your voices

just another night in Nantes,

Nobody raise your voices

just another night in Nantes.
