Prologue
The hard golden-brown eyes of a woman in her early 40's stared deep into the depths of a teenage girl with one golden-green eye and one golden-blue eye with authority.
"No means no, Lumina" the woman said in a thick Afro-Caribbean accent
"Why though? Why can't I just stay here with Salina and live with her instead of moving to Japan? I don't want to go someplace where I won't even fit in. You see as much as I do that I don't look one ounce Japanese at all! Why can't I stay here in Jamaica where I'm happy have friends and fit in..?"
Lumina said sulking to the hard woodin floors. Lumina's mother then sighed heavily looking to a Japanese man in his mid-40's that then stood to comfort her Lumina, wrapping his arm around her.
"It's okay sweet heart, you'll fit in perfectly in Japan don't worry about thing like that too much. You'll find new friends and continue to be happy. Come on Mina, cheer up. We have to finish 'packing'."
The man then kissed Lumina on the forehead and sent her on her way. Lumina walked to and stood in her near empty bed room. The movers had worked fast, taking everything out except a blown up picture of Lumina and 5 other people. 3 girl's two boys, one was holding Lumina close to his chest. They were all smiling together. 'No more of those days huh?' Lumina thought to herself as she looked out her bed room window at the sandy beach of her once Jamaica home. The movers quickly took down the picture and put it with the other belongings being moved. Sighing Lumina went into her bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. Mis-matched large eyes stared back at her, usually golden-brown sun kissed skin looked a bit dull, full rosy lips hung in a pout,a beauty mole under her left eye, dirty blond hair draped around her face and a long tail of hair rapped in red yellow and green cloth stood behind her. Lumen was wearing a red and yellow sun dress that made her usually 5'3 height and curvy body seem a bit longer and stretched out and a golden necklace an 'friend' gave her. As she sighed once again looking over what she used to call home, she herd her mother call from the front of the house.
"Lumina! It's time to leave now! Your siblings and father are in the limo already, we need to leave for the airport now if we are to be on time!"
Lumina's mother drawled in that Afro-Caribbean accent again. Lumina sighed, kissing the mirror and taking out a sick of lipstick, writing something on the glass before taking off the necklace and leaving.
"Here I come now mom!"
Lumina yelled as she unwillingly ran to her waiting family and new start in Japan.
