Dark Paradise

Summary: Carly tells Josslyn what Drew said and Josslyn deals with the fact that Oscar might not want to be saved.

Josslyn stood up eagerly the moment that she saw Carly walk into the room. "So? Did you talk to them?" She asked, blue eyes wide and hopeful.

Carly swallowed hard at her daughter's expression and nodded. "I told Drew that Sonny would offer him the jet if he wanted it. He told me that it would have to be Oscar's decision."

The teen bit her lip carefully. "Well that's good, isn't it?"

Her mother sighed and wrapped an arm around her daughter. "It could be, baby. But...honey, there's no telling if Oscar will want to go to the clinic. And even if he did, it might not work."

Josslyn pulled back and furrowed a brow. "Why are you telling me this?" She asked in disbelief. "Do you just want me to give up on saving him?"

"Saving Oscar isn't your job, Josslyn! You're a sixteen year old little girl! I just want you to be aware that things might not work out." Carly told her firmly, reaching out to cup her daughter's face, eyes locked on her daughter's.

Her daughter seemed to wilt at that, head lowered so her blonde locks fell around her face like a curtain. "What if...what if he doesn't want to go to the clinic? How am I supposed to just be okay with losing him?"

Carly's arms wrapped around her daughter and pulled her close. Her right hand ran through the teens hair and she pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Then I'll help you get through it, Josslyn. You won't be going through this alone."

Josslyn smiled as Oscar wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed his lips to her's gently. "Hey." She said to him softly, running her fingers through his hair. "You feeling hungry?"

Oscar gave her a grin back and nodded. He kissed her again and then let go of her to take her hand instead. Together, they walked into Kelly's. "I'll go up and order for us. You want your usual?"

She gave him an approving nod and watched as he headed over to the counter to order. She glanced down at her hands and thought about her conversation with her mother earlier that day. She wondered if his parents had discussed it with him. Part of her dreaded the answer, knowing it might not be the one that she wanted.

"Josslyn?" Oscar asked worriedly as he placed her strawberry milkshake, chicken tenders, and onion rings in front of her. "Are you okay?"

Josslyn looked up at that and gave him a reassuring grin. "Of course. I'm just...worried about a test we have coming up. That's it." She lied.

Her boyfriend sighed at that and looked down. "Please don't lie to me, Josslyn."

She shifted her gaze away. "What makes you think I'm lying?"

"Because..I know about the offer your mother made. And I know you well, Joss. I know you're wondering what my answer is." Oscar replied, tone serious.

Josslyn gazed at him. "And so what's your answer?"

At that question, he seemed to hesitate, mulling it over. "As amazing as the offer is, I'd...have to say no." He answered honestly. "I know it might not work. I just...want to spend whatever time I got left with the people I love. Hopefully that includes you."

She nodded at that and blinked back tears. "Of course it will include me. Why wouldn't it? I promise I'd be by your side through whatever. And I keep my promises."

Oscar smiled sadly and took her hand, squeezing it. "Thank you." He whispered to her gratefully.

Josslyn tried to give him a smile but inside she was in turmoil. She wondered how she'd get through losing him. The very idea terrified her and made it feel as if her heart had been ripped out from her chest. But she knew that she was going to stay by his side through it all. After all, she'd made him a promise and she wasn't the type to abandon those she loved, as much as it might break her heart.
