He would never admit this for the rest of his life. Papa Smurf was grateful to Gargamel. Not for taking his little girl and trying to rule the world. Just for letting him see Master Patrick Winslow one more time.
He could see a great change in him and he was proud. Patrick was much kinder, patient and loyal. He could see Blue was going to grow up fine and hoped the boy knew what an amazing Papa he had.
This was why he wasn't scared to ask him for advice. He truly cared about Patrick, Grace, little Blue and now Master Victor as well. Papa Smurf just wished he could have them around forever.
Not to his knowledge and probably never would, Patrick was grateful as well. Papa had made him a much kinder, patient and loyal man. Now he'd given him new respect and love for his step father. In return though he'd given Papa hope about his little girl.
The two made a good team and both would miss each other. Maybe it was a sin but both silently hoped another disaster would strike just so they could see each other again. Who knows though, maybe next time Patrick could visit them.
