I'll Never Give Up On You

Hiro sat at his computer, gazing at his robot that he had built himself for the bot fights and remembered how it had been his inspiration for his microbots. He remembered it like yesterday.

Flashback:

"What are you doing?!" asked Hiro as he found himself grabbed by his ankles and dangled upside down as his older brother Tadashi held Hiro's ankles firmly with his hands while his little brother hung upside down behind him.

Tadashi had told him to see a different angle, and he did.

End flashback

He had worked for many nights on the microbots project, but at last, he was finished with them. He remembered racing upstairs to tell his aunt and big brother he had completed them. He even gave them a demonstration. Cass had practically hugged him to death, saying how proud she was of him. Another flashback came to Hiro and he smiled as he remembered it.

Another flashback:

"I told you that you could do it!" said Tadashi, giving Hiro a noogie which the younger boy squirmed to get free from, laughing as suddenly Tadashi grabbed him and began tickling him.

"Say it!" he said teasingly as Hiro laughed up a storm. "Say that I was right."

"Okay! You were right!" Hiro laughed as he tried to escape his older brother, who only laughed and tickled him a bit more, finally letting Hiro up.

But then, the younger boy tackled his older brother and they roughhoused for a bit, tickling each other and wrestling to see who was stronger, which of course was Tadashi.

By the time they stopped, they were so tired that they went to bed, getting ready for the big showcase happening in a few days.

End flashback

Hiro now sighed as he glanced at his microbots. He and his friends had defeated Callahan and life was normal. He let out another sigh.

"Hiro? Are you alright?" asked Baymax, who had come over to see why Hiro was sighing.

"I'm okay, Baymax. Just thinking," he said. "Tadashi said he'd never give up on me, even when I thought I was out of ideas. Like my microbots for the college showcase. I just miss him being here."

Baymax blinked. "I understand," he said. "Tadashi's death left you feeling empty."

Hiro nodded. "Yeah, because he was my idol. The one I always looked up to and still do, even though he's gone."

Baymax scooped the boy in his arms without warning, making Hiro jump a bit, but then he calmed down. The robot had taken the line 'needing a pick-me-up' literally and so would pick up Hiro if he felt down. It felt a little silly, but the young teen appreciated it and didn't complain because it did help. He now yawned and Baymax noticed.

"Your body scan indicates you are tired," he said.

"Yeah, it was a long day," said Hiro, waiting for the robot to put him down.

Instead, Baymax cradled him in his arms, rocking him. "Sleep, Hiro," he cooed.

The teen yawned and snuggled into Baymax, whose stomach began glowing a gentle, warming red as the internal heating unit built inside him turned on. "Thanks, Baymax," he said with another big yawn.

"You're welcome, Hiro. Remember, just like Tadashi, I'll never give up on you."

Hiro smiled at that before falling fast asleep in the white robot's arms and Baymax carried him to his bed, tucking him in and watching him for a moment before going over to his recharging station, stepping into it, but staying activated to watch over the young boy he cared about.

While he also missed Tadashi, Baymax knew that Hiro needed someone to watch over him beside Cass. He looked at Tadashi's bed and saw the cap the older boy had always worn and smiled.

Just like Tadashi, Baymax would never give up on those he cared about.
