Prelude
There were thirteen of them. They were like him but they were also different than him. He was America, the colony but they were also colonies. They were so very much like him but also so very different than him. While they were small settlements, only portions of the same land he was all of the settlements, all of the lands. They were separate but he was not. It felt wrong to him that they were separate, in his heart he knew that they should all be together.
He journeyed to meet them, the thirteen colonies. He met them each one by one and as he met each one he grew more and more certain that they were not meant to be separate. They belonged with each other, together forever. He knew when he met each one that they felt it too.
After he had met each one they sought him out the desire to meet again eating their own hearts. They found him, one by one they met him again and when England, his caretaker, his master found out he had been furious and demanded that they never meet again. To obey such a command brought such agony to all of their hearts they could not bare to think it.
As England caused more and more suffering to their people and to all of them the colonies one by one convinced him that it was time they rebelled. Together the colonies and he helped to make the United States of America a nation. It was a painful and bloody war wrought with misery and strife though the colonies and new nation could not help but feel truly relieved and happy when it was over and they had won.
Just after the war had ended, the thirteen new states became one nation together with America. America loved them each and they all loved him so dearly. He was their beloved and they were his. They were all married to their beautiful America, one at a time sharing their love and lives. Over the years America gave birth to many beautiful children and loved all of them endlessly and completely. Their lives together were not without struggle and sorrow, but they always pulled together and loved each other more than any could begin to comprehend. This is the story of this family and the many things they have gone through together.
