I just discovered this drabble I wrote back in 2009; I have no idea why I wrote it, and I can't find that I posted it anywhere.
Consider it a "teaser" of what is to come in "Disco Snape", the 1970's sequel/second volume to "Woodstock Snape".

Without furniture, Spinner's End looked frail and even more desolate than usual.
The thought that he should get the furniture out of the storage facility the man from the Ministry for Magic had mentioned crossed Severus' mind, but he immediately dismissed it. Why even bother?
He sat on the bottom steps of the stairs, collapsing his head into his hands. It had been a devastating afternoon, but he would not cry.
He should have found a way to owl them. He should have found a way to come back sooner.
Should have. Would have. Could have.
Severus sighed. It was useless to ponder on the various "what ifs". What was, was. The lifeā¦no, the dream he had had for the life he would have once he came back, was dead.
He stood up, wiping his hands on the back of his jeans, and walked out to the limo without bothering to close the front door. He told the driver the address of the storage facility .- there were a few of his mother's books he wanted to retrieve before returning to the hotel.
Severus stared out the window, vowing that this would be the last he would ever see of Spinner's End; the music on the 8-track mocked him:
Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
