Author's note: Good Day to you! I hope you will enjoy my new story. I love Once Upon A time, this is going to be my first FanFiction I'll write about it, though. And if I'm fair, I didn't really like season 7. I didn't like they replaced Storybrooke for Hyperion Heights. And also all the fluffy romances like, Captain Swan, Rumbelle, Snowing and Outlaw Queen were gone ( I know Outlaw Queen actually already died halfaway season 5 because Robin decided to die. Why did you want to die, Robin? You and Regina were so cute! You just screwed up the entire season. I seriously wanted to cry at your funeral! No I'm joking, LOVE YOU!). Well I decided to write a Fanfiction like a replacement for season 7. What if the adventures of the original characters continued in Storybrooke? More cute romances, more adventure, more danger, more drama, and let's not forget, more magic!
(By the way, Henry is still ten years old in this story. It'll make it a bit easier to create his character and reactions.)
(I do not own Once Upon a Time.)
-ENJOY!-
Chapter I
It was 8 PM and Henry had decided to sleep at Regina's place in his old room. Winter had come to Storybrooke, and decided to make sure it would look like a real fairytale. The entire town had been buried under a thick and cold bed of snow. It shimmered in the light of the upcoming sun. The road was completely clear from car tracks, which made the snow look even more beautiful. The sky was completely white, and small snowflakes were still whirling down from the sky.
Henry slowly opened an eye. He could look right through the window. He jumped out of his bed, and said excitedly, ''It's snowing!'' He ran to the window and looked outside. He watched the small pearl white flocks whirl down toward the earth. He looked at the forest in the distance. The trees in the coniferous forest were all bearing a thick layer of snow. It was just like Storybrooke had become one of those little towns in snow globes. Henry ran toward his closet and threw it open. He quickly dressed up, and ran down the stairs. He reached out to the door knob. ''Henry?'' Regina's voice asked coming from the kitchen. ''Where are you going?'' She walked into the hall and faced him. She looked tired and had dark circles under her eyes. ''I'm just going to play. It's snowing.'' he replied excited. ''Alright, but be careful,'' she said motherly. She walked toward him and tightened his scarf. ''And don't get a cold.'' She smiled down at him. ''I won't.'' Henry threw the door open and ran outside.
He looked around and examined the town. Everything looked so different now it was bright white. Henry had never seen snow like this in Storybrooke. If it snowed, it was wet snow and wasn't fit for building snowmen or snowball fights. The snow was untouched, there wasn't any track or footstep to be seen. Henry probably was the first one to set foot on the fresh arrived snow. He cheerfully walked toward Emma's house while he enjoyed the crackling snow under his shoes. He knew Emma would always like to play with him. Especially in the snow. At least he expected. When he arrived in front of her house, he walked onto the lawn and knocked three times against the door. ''Emma!'' he shouted impatiently when no one answered. ''Emma, it's snowing!'' he shouted up at her bedroom window. He listened if there was any hint of her slumping down the stairs. When the only thing he heard was the soft rustling of the trees, he started banging against the door.
Finally after what felt like centuries to Henry, Emma opened the door. She was surprised to see an excited Henry so early in the morning on her doorstep. ''Kid, aren't you supposed to be in bed?'' She was still in her pyjamas and looked at him with sleepy eyes. ''What's the matter, kid?'' she asked yawning when he didn't reply. ''Snow monster? Or maybe a giant?'' She stretched her arms into the air and grunted. ''Emma, will you come and play with me?'' Henry asked quickly. ''Look, it had been snowing last night. Let's go build a snowman or something.'' He pointed behind him at the sparkling white, silent streets. ''It's 8:30 PM, kid. Can't it wait a few more hours?'' she asked sleepily. ''Come on, Emma. Please?'' He put on his puppy eyes. But they didn't seem to convince her, so he switched to plan B. ''If you won't. Then I won't leave you alone. I will keep bothering you, until you come and play with me,'' Henry said challenging. Emma looked at him with narrowing eyes. ''You're bluffing,'' Emma replied. ''Try me,'' Henry said grinning at his birth mother. Emma knew he was bluffing because of what she called 'Her Superpower', despite this she would like to spend some time with her son. After several moments she stepped aside. ''Come in. I'll go change and wake Hook. Maybe he likes to come along.'' Henry quickly entered the house. He took off his scarf and gloves, and walked to the couch. He plopped down onto it, and watched his mother climbing the stairs.
When Emma had reached her bedroom, she saw Hook was standing in front of the window. ''I thought you were still asleep,'' she said walking toward him. He turned around. ''How can I sleep while a boy from ten years old keep banging on the door and shouting up our bedroom,'' he asked ironically. ''I heard your conversation, though. But I've never made a snowman before.'' He looked out of the window again. ''To be fair, I have never crossed paths with snow before.'' He looked at Emma again. ''So, let's go,'' he said suddenly excited.
They quickly dressed up, and walked downstairs. When Henry heard them coming, he quickly put his scarf and gloves back on, ready for a great, but also very cold day. ''You ready, kid?'' Emma asked smiling. ''You bet I am!'' Henry ran toward the door, and threw it open. He dashed outside. ''I guess snow is a lot of fun then.'' Hook said surprised by Henry's sudden excitement. ''That depends on how well you can handle the cold.'' Emma turned around and followed Henry outside. Hook quickly took the keys from the kitchen counter, and closed the door behind him.
He walked onto the lawn, and at once received a snowball against his face. He quickly wiped off the cold snow, and looked around, startled. In front of him stood Emma, laughing at the snowball that had hit him right in the face.
Hook grinned, took a hand full of snow, and tried to shape it round with his hand. When it was close to the right shape, he threw it at Emma's back who was talking to Henry. When she was hit, she abruptly raised her shoulders because of the sudden hit. She turned around and started jumping like crazy. ''It's in my shirt!'' she shouted, desperately trying to get the cold snow to fall out of her shirt. Hook and Henry were laughing madly at her sprawling. When she had finally managed to get the snow out of her shirt, she threw a snowball right at Henry's face. He stopped laughing, and shook his head to get the snow off. ''You're going to get that one back!'' Henry said grinning. ''You'll wait. I've got the perfect idea.'' He turned and ran a few houses further. He stopped in front of one, and ran toward the door. ''Grandpa!'' he shouted, while banging on the door. Compared to Emma and Hook, the residents of this house were real early birds. Rumpelstiltskin had answered the door, and stood all dressed up in the doorway. ''Henry? What's wrong?'' he asked concerned.''Snow monster? Or maybe a giant?'' he asked looking out into the white streets. ''Why does everyone think that?'' Henry asked ironically. Then he looked up at his grandfather remembering why he was there in the first place. ''I need your help to get back at my mother. With magic.'' Henry winked. ''Regina?'' Rumple asked turning to Henry. ''No, my other mother,'' Henry replied casually. ''What did she do?'' Belle asked, appearing at Rumpel's shoulder. She held baby Gideon in her arms while rocking him back and forth. ''She threw a snowball right into my face, but I can never get back at her alone. So I asked grandpa if he could help me.'' Henry looked around as Emma appeared in front of the snow buried fence surrounding the lawn. Rumpel raised his hand, and made a huge lump of snow levitate, he directed it above Emma, and then lowered his hand. The snow fell right on top of her.
Henry burst into laughing, Rumpel looked pleased, and Belle stood grinning next to him. ''That's not fair,'' Emma said with raised shoulders. ''No magic allowed.'' She shook off the snow, and shivered. ''Are you alright, love?'' Hook asked quickly when he reached her. ''Yeah, I'm fine,'' she replied. ''But Henry just teamed up with his grandparents. Maybe we should form a team, too,'' Emma proposed grinning. ''I'm not playing,'' Belle said quickly before they could do anything. Rumpel turned around and vanished into the house to get his coat. When he returned, Henry was buried under bright white snow. Rumpel quickly pulled him out. ''I thought you said no magic allowed?'' he asked sweeping the snow of his grandson. ''It's payback. Now we're even. No more magic.'' Rumpel quickly closed the door of his house, so the warmth wouldn't escape. He grabbed a handful of snow, and quickly made a snowball. He threw it with all his strength at Hook. It hit him right in the face, again. ''Nice one, grandpa!'' Henry said laughing.
Hook grinned while the snow slipped down his brow. ''Well done, Crocodile.'' He threw a bad shaped snowball at Rumple, who quickly dodged it. ''Almost, Pirate.'' Rumpel grinned and threw another snowball, but at Emma this time.
They were outside for almost two hours. While Belle was watching her husband and step-grandson beat Emma and Hook through the window, she kept rocking Gideon to and fro. She smiled when Rumple was finally hit, and shook the snow off his face. He grinned and returned the hit to Hook, who had been too proud of finally hitting Rumpel, that he hadn't been paying attention. Emma tried to warn him while he was excitedly talking to her, but was too late. The snowball hit him on the back of his head. Emma laughed.
Belle loved to see Rumpel happy. It made her happy. She was convinced he had finally let the power flow by, and choose real happiness instead. She looked at her son, who was dozing off. She smiled and walked to his crib and carefully put him down. It was a wooden crib with beautiful detailed curved shapes. It was made by the town handyman, Marco; also known as Gepetto. She watched Gideon for a few moments, but then turned around to make tea. She expected it couldn't take much longer for them to freeze outside. And she was right, after a few more minutes she heard the lock click, and saw the door open. Her frozen husband entered the house, and shivered. He quickly took off his coat and hung it on the coat rack. When he walked into the house he smiled at his wife in the kitchen, and walked to the couch. He sat down, and looked into the crib where his son was sleeping. Belle quickly made her way through the objects between the couch and the kitchen.
Rumpel smiled at his son, while Belle approached him with a cup of hot steaming tea. ''Here,'' she said handing him the cup. ''Thank you.'' He took a sip. And enjoyed the tea, but then put the cup onto the coffee table, and turned to look at his wife. ''I still feel sorry for Gideon,'' he said softly. Belle looked confused. ''Why?'' she asked. ''Because, if it wasn't for me. You wouldn't have to send him with the Blue Fairy to safety and would my mother never have found him.'' Rumpel looked back at his son. ''I was the selfish creature I had always been, and he had to grow up with a terrible woman.'' Rumpel felt a tear form in his eye-corner. ''Struggling with the thought of why his parents could possibly want to give him up, with only a book with a small message from his birth mother.'' The tear escaped his eye and slid down his cheek. ''I know how it feels, Belle,'' Rumple said sadly turning to his wife. ''I know how it feels to live with the gnawing thought that your parents didn't want you.''
Belle wiped some snow out of his hair, and said, ''You couldn't do anything about it. And now everything is fine. Gideon is here and we get to raise him. One day we'll tell him what happened, and he'll understand. If he hears how you were, and sees how you are now, he will know you've really changed and you're a good man now.'' Belle leaned against his shoulder, and looked at Gideon. ''He'll know you're a good man, Rumpel.'' Rumpel smiled and put an arm around her. Together they enjoyed the look of their baby boy.
In the meantime, Henry, Hook and Emma had arrived at the Charming's place. It was 10 PM now, so they should be out of bed. Henry started banging against the door, impatient for his grandparents to answer. When he heard footsteps nearing, he stepped back. It was David who stood in the doorway. Snow was sitting on her bed playing with Neal. Henry dashed inside. ''Someone's excited.'' He looked at Henry who was jumping in the room to get warm. ''Is it okay if I'll make a few cups of hot cocoa? We're completely frozen,'' Emma asked also stepping inside, and peeling her gloves off her frozen hands. ''Sure,'' David replied smiling at his daughter. She walked toward the kitchen, with Henry at her heels. David turned to Hook. ''So how are things going?'' He glanced at his daughter. Hook didn't reply immediately, and seemed a bit uncomfortable at the subject. ''Well, enough. We have a house and are quite happy here. So, nothing to complain,'' he replied uncertain. David looked at him with a penetrating look. Hook shuffled uncomfortably in reply. ''You're hiding something.''
''Do you need help, Swan?'' he quickly shouted to escape David. ''I think they need help.'' Hook quickly turned away and joined Emma in the kitchen. He glanced over to David who was still looking suspiciously at his son in law. ''What's wrong, David?'' Snow asked walking toward him with Neal in her arms. ''Hook's hiding something.'' He turned to his wife. ''Just let them be. Look at them, they're happy,'' Snow said turning to her daughter and Hook. ''You're probably right.'' David kept looking suspiciously at the duo. Snow rolled her eyes and walked to Henry who had left the kitchen and sat on the couch. ''Don't forget the cinnamon, mom!'' he shouted into the kitchen.
When the drinks were ready, and they had all warmed up for a bit, Henry started describing the snow fight between Hook, Emma, himself and Rumpel. ''So Gold buried Emma under the snow?'' David asked unbelievably. ''Yeah, he did. But I got back at Henry for getting help from his dark one grandfather, and buried him under the snow.'' Emma grinned at her son.
Their merry conversation was interrupted by an urging knock on the door. Snow answered it, and in the doorway stood Leroy. His face filled with terror. ''What's wrong?'' Snow asked concerned. He leaned on his knees, gasping for breath. ''People...other...realms...here,'' he said with difficulty. Her eyes widened. ''Not again,'' she said annoyed. ''Come and see for yourself.'' Leroy had regained his breath but was still gasping.
They set off all wearing thick clothes against the cold. Leroy led them to the town square, where a group of people stood confused, looking around. ''Emma? What's going on?'' Mulan asked emerging from the group of people, she bore a confused look. ''I have no idea.'' Emma looked around at the group. She saw Merida with her brothers, Elsa and Anna, Aladdin and Jasmine, Red and Dorothy and some other known people from the other realms. Elsa and Anna weren't alone, with them were; Kristoff and a small living snowman with a snow white cloud above his head. He had a high voice, and turned out to be called Olaf. He had a big smile, one teeth and a carrot for a nose. ''What's happening?'' Anna asked looking around. ''Oh, no. We're not in this place again, are we?'' She looked at Emma who watched her with a blank expression. ''Not that I don't like it here, it's wonderful,'' she said quickly. Emma tore her gaze away, and walked toward Mulan. ''Can you remember anything from what happened before you arrived here?'' Emma had always been straight to the point, and wasn't very different now. ''No, nothing.'' Mulan focused and tried to remember, but to no avail. Their memories were gone, like snow in the sun.
Snow asked if everyone could go to Granny's so they would be able to find out what happened. The crowd started moving toward the diner. ''Emma!'' Snow called to her daughter. Emma quickly walked toward her. ''How many are there?'' Snow asked looking at the crowd. Emma followed her gaze, ''I think twenty, maybe thirty,'' she replied.
''What happened?'' Belle and Rumpel came walking toward the crowd. Belle was pushing a pram, and looked concerned. ''Leroy came running toward our house and told us what happened,'' Rumpel explained quickly, when Emma looked at them. ''I don't know. They're all going to Granny's now. But we're going to find out. We always do,'' Emma replied. They set off after the crowd toward the diner.
When they arrived, it was very crowded inside, and a frustrated Granny came walking toward them. ''What the hell is going on?'' she asked annoyed. I thought I would never have those Camelot people in my diner. But here they are again.'' She pushed through the busy crowd. ''People!'' Emma shouted between the loud chatters of confused and anxious people. ''Listen up!'' She climbed onto a table. ''PEOPLE!'' she yelled when no one seemed to hear her. The crowd fell silent and turned toward her. ''What's happening?" Merida asked anxiously. ''I thought everything was right again,'' Red said agreeing. ''Yeah, so did we. But something seemed to occur, though,'' Emma replied uncertain. ''If you have any memory of before you arrived here, please let us know so we can find out what caused this.'' Emma looked at Granny. ''Can you provide us from enough food, and blankets?'' she asked. ''That depends on how much you're going to pay me,'' she replied coldly. Granny had never liked it when something had happened and the afterwards gathering found place in her diner. People started talking loudly again. Red quickly walked to Granny. ''Come on, Granny. Don't be so stubborn,'' she said trying to convince her to do it. Granny thought about it for a moment with an annoyed expression. ''Fine! But never again.'' She stomped into the kitchen.
''People, you can go with Mother Superior. She'll take you to a place where you can find shelter against the cold.'' Mother Superior stepped forward and guided the crowd out of the diner. Anna and Elsa took their little snowman, Merida her brothers and the rest of them quickly walked out of the diner. When everyone but, Snow, Charming, Rumpel, Belle, Emma, Henry and Hook had left the diner the theories of what could have happened broke free. ''I think it's wise to just continue our lives, and see where this next adventure takes us,'' Rumpel said. ''Everything we do is make sure the world is save.''
''I actually would like to have some time to rest, and to create my own family,'' Belle agreed. ''There's always so much going on in this town. It's exhausting.''
''I think they're right,'' Snow said after several moments. ''If we continue focussing on everything that happens, we'll never get some time to relax. We should take it easy this time.'' Everyone nodded in agreement. ''So, what will we do next?'' Henry asked after several moments of silence. ''First, we'll have to check if everything is alright with the newcomers. Then we'll have to make sure they all have a place to sleep,'' Emma replied. Henry turned to his family. ''Now, all we need is a name.'' He thought for a few seconds, then said, ''Let's call it, operation homecoming.''
Author's note: Hi people! Usually I don't put two A/N's in one chapter but I just wanted to let you know, I'm a little scarce on plot ideas. So if you have any plot ideas, you can send me a PM. If I'll use your idea, I'll make sure to put your name at the start of the chapter, to make sure people'll know it was your idea. This was it for me, see you next time!
