Rory sat at her desk reading Oliver Twist again for the fifth time. Her monkey lamp was very dim and it was hard to see but Rory didn't care because she wasn't concentrating on the book. She was thinking about this boy she noticed at school today. He was a jock like most boys, but he wasn't like the other boys. He didn't fool around and laugh at the less popular people. He was nice to them. He helped them. Never in her life had Rory met such a boy. For some reason she couldn't stop thinking about him. She tried. She honestly did. She even called her boyfriend Jess to come over for a movie. That didn't work. So she told Jess that she was getting tired and she had to sleep early for a big test. Which wasn't totally a lie. She did have a big test, just not tomorrow and she tried to sleep but couldn't. So now she was just sitting at her desk with her book open thinking about why she could think of nothing but this boy. She didn't have feelings for him. She already has a boyfriend who she loves very much. And an ex-boyfriend who -if anyone ever asked her she would never admit, even to mom who was her best friend - she still has lingering feelings for. She'd never talked to the boy before. In fact she didn't even know his name. So why was this boy keeping her from have regular thoughts? She wasn't sure if it was just her or if the boy caught her looking at him today and winked at her. It must have been my imagination, she thought. She didn't even know his name. Today was the first time she ever saw him....

"Rory, honey! Are you asleep yet?" Lorelei, her mom yelled from the living room.

"I will be in a few minutes! Rory screamed back.

"Ok, Good Night!

Rory turned off her lamp, got into bed and tucked her covers over her trying to push all thoughts about the boy away. She was probably just stressed. Tomorrow was Valentine's Day; she should be wondering about what Jess got her. After a good nights sleep everything would be ok. So with that she fell asleep dreaming about the first time she and Jess met.
