Genetic engineering has allowed the combination of animal DNA with human DNA in order to enhance our attributes. Eachperson can transform into an animal at birth and display attributes associated with that animal, such as strength, speed, and sometimes even wings or sharpened and elongated teeth. As the procedure to combine animal and human DNA gained popularity, dissension grew between the the two different groups. Eventually, in order to prevent a full scale war, humans and halflings were seperated by a gargantuan wall, seled off from each other. Rumors of the other side was all the humans and the halflings had of each other. The halflings became misshapen and mindless savages to the humans and humans became stupid weak creatures with a violent nature to the halflings. The humans were governed by the H.A.C.O.H, the political group that originally advocated the secession from one mixed society. In turn, the scientists who created the technology for halflings, Blu Skie and Rudy Baryonyx governed over their creations. But Rudy and Blu had a huge disagreement over styles of governing and eventually Rudy took his creations, prehistoric halflings, and receded into the underground caverns. All contact was lost. The environment in which these opposing races live in is less than ideal. Based on their lifestyle, the halflings did everything they could do to stop global warming and preserve their evironment. This resulted in a lower climate temperature overall. The humans continued as before and suffer from high temperatures and barren landscape.
