Chapter 1;
Once again I found myself searching frantically in the depths of my basement for the most secluded hiding place there could be. I scurried toward a dark area surrounded with old boxes from previous moves. It was all a quite pathetic situation really; a young girl searching frantically for somewhere to hide from her own hideous parents. I found myself breathing atrociously loud from the running I had just done.
My parents were sadly one of the infected, leaving me to fend for myself in this chaotic mess. The whole ordeal never ceased to amaze me. Well, it wasn't the infection per se that amazed me. It was the recklessness that had caused all of this to happen.
The recklessness and how unorthodox this all was. How often does a disease sweep through the whole nation you know as earth- what you know as home, causing your whole neighborhood to turn into human crazed beasts that want to kill you? Remember, these people were once your friends- the very people that you shared your favorite toys with, or your ham sandwiches with. It was something that depressed you easily and mightily.
My mother and father had been attacked while trying to protect me from what they themselves had turned into. It troubled me; I really did not have the slightest ides as to what to call these monsters that were created not two weeks ago. They had the chacteristic of a zombie, yet they had the most apparent characteristics of a vampire. It puzzled me to no end; how could these be the result of a simple experiment that was intented to protect us. From what I remember these things weren't supposed to kill us. But, now they were exterminating us.
The manifestation, which was later proved true, was that the Military was trying desperately to find a way to stop the enemy in their tracks with what could have been great way to defeat the military force on the opposing side. It was a bittersweet movement. It saddened me how these beasts had stolen the one thing that we thought was locked away from other beings. These things had taken our very soul; our virtues that we had cherished were stolen.
I looked up to survey my present scenario. The small boxes surrounding me slightly blocked my view. A slight thud was heard and my head jerked up to see the cause of it. The hunger crazed creature lay before my eyes; ready to pounce on the innocent prey that, undoubtedly would never stand a chance against these vile creatures that had come to harm our very existence.
With a loud, vigorous bash atop the house, the creature was sent running rather expedited up the stairs, down the hall, and toward the where he thought the noise was. I realized then that I was, without doubt, going to have to form a plan.
