"Hello?" a small voice called out.

To Donatello, it felt as though he'd been missing for hours. However realistically he knew it to be closer to 40 or so minutes. How could I have wandered from the group? He chided himself. Leo always was telling him he had a tendency to get lost in his own head. If only he paid more attention.

"Hello? Master Spli'ner? Raphael?" ... "Any-body?"

Donatello held his breath...the only reply he got was silence. He slid down the wall, shell noisily scraping against it. "Come find me," he pleaded with the shadows. Tears stung his eyes. "Come find me, please."

After a while, he began to realize he was no longer alone. A ways away, he heard something. Surely it was Master Splinter and the others. He was rescued! He climbed to his feet and began following the noise. The further he walked, the more noise he heard, and the more hopeful he became. Then: a light!

Overcome with relief, Donatello took off sprinting as fast as his little legs would carry him. In his haste, he failed to notice the missing manhole cover, the weak sunlight filtering down through it, and the pair of legs he crashed right into.
