Hello! I promised to write something about KiraxLacus for munyo and here it is! I sincerely hope he/she likes it and I apologize for not sticking to the suggestion. It's mainly KiraxLacus but it has slight, very slight, AsuMeer for plot reasons.

Disclaimer: Oh yes, I own it and that's why I'm writing fanfiction. -sarcastic-

Kira Yamato watched, silently, as Lacus brushed her hair. She hummed a small tune, which Kira faintly recognized as Meer's version of one of her songs. Although the tune was happy, Kira could see the sorrow in her eyes though the mirror.

She blamed herself for Meer's death. She blamed herself for Athrun becoming the way he was when the war ended – lonely, broken.

Still, Lacus had always been good at shielding her feelings from others. Kira wondered why today was any different.

"I saw Athrun today."

Kira shook his head lightly. So that's what it was.

"How's he doing? I haven't seen him around much. I guess he's busy with Orb's rebuilding and what not."

Lacus nodded absent-mindedly.

"But Kira, I'm worried about him."

Kira gave a small laugh and walked over, hugging his fiancée from behind.

"Lacus, Athrun is a grown man; he can take care of himself."

"I know. It's just… Today, he was looking at me like he saw someone else."

It did not take a rocket scientist to know who Lacus was thinking about.

"Lacus, Meer's death wasn't your fault. You didn't ask her to take a bullet for you," Kira soothed.

Lacus squeezed her eyes shut against the tears that were threatening to spill from her baby-blue eyes.

"I know," she choked, "but that doesn't make this any easier."

"Lacus, it's okay to cry."

Lacus, however, wasn't listening to him.

"He loved her, Kira. He loved her."

"Lacus…"

"What is love?"

Her question caught Kira off-guard.

"W-What?!"

"Kira, we hardly spend any time together. How do I know that you still love me?"

Kira smiled. Lacus may have been a mediator during the past two wars but she was still human after all.

Kira turned her around so that she faced him and gently pressed his lips against Lacus. True, Lacus and Kira rarely had any time together; Kira had nearly forgotten just how soft, how sweet, Lacus's lips were.

"Love, is when someone falls for a person over and over again."

So? How was it?
