Chris woke to the sound of the fridge door opening and got up slowly from the couch - least he could do was make the coffee for Dov this morning. However, as he rounded the corner it came into his fuzzy awareness that it was not Dov rummaging around, but Gail. Gail, whose head popped up just like one of those meerkats at his approach. Gail, whose hair was down…and kinda really messed-up. Gail who was barefoot and in her robe and clutching a bottle of Gatorade and glaring impassively.
The glare he recognized, and just as he was about to open his mouth to say a simple 'good morning', he noticed something else: Gail's face. Her actual face, not just the look she was giving him. It was flushed. There was a swollen softness around her lips, stark and red and free of make-up, and no matter how hard she shot daggers at him there was a glorious sort-of energy coming from her. Though at this point he was far less familiar with it than the glares, he recognized that energy too…his jaw dropped open slightly as he started to grin.
"Oh my god." Gail Peck was majorly sexed up.
He could see Gail struggle to maintain her fury at being caught out, so the "Fuck-off, Diaz," was spat out just a little harsher and was sing-songed a little meaner than would be normally. Chris just didn't care. He started to chuckle as Gail shut the fridge door and by the time she was walking around him saying "You know I hate you so much right now," he was laughing quietly but outright, having spotted the scratches and the palm prints and the bite-marks and the beginnings of a hickey blooming on her collarbone at the edge of her robe.
She turned sharply on him, got right up in his space and said nothing. Just looked at him with those husky eyes, magnificent and menacing, sussing him out. It reminded him of a moment he had early on with Christian - being challenged for approval with an obstinate gaze. He would've liked to deal with it the same way he had in that situation and just give her a hug... but he was pretty sure Gail was totally naked under her robe and totally still vibeing off of Holly and he was totally not going there. "I'm gonna brew a pot, you guys want some?" He knew he'd made the right call when her eyes lowered and softened even as she shook her head and scoffed in his face.
It was too early in the morning for him to be absolutely sure he saw it, but he was almost positive that she smiled as she turned around and headed back to her room, throwing "Thanks for the electrolytes, perv!" over her shoulder as she slammed the door.
