He tugged a dandelion from the lake bank, raising it to eye level and examining each separate wisp of seed.

"He loves me, he loves me not," taunted Sirius, sprawling out on the grass. Remus just shot him a sideways glance before pursing his lips, blowing softly and watching as the seeds drifted over the surface of the lake.

He loves me.

"What are you thinking about, dreamer boy?" Sirius reached over to lazily trace a scar on Remus' forearm.

Remus hesitated, trying to translate his thoughts into precisely the right words. "This is so easy," he finally said, eyes still trained on the white specks of dandelion seeds that danced across the water.

"You're an easy boy to sit with," Sirius teased, pushing his hand under the sleeve of Remus' robe. "An easy boy to daydream with… An easy boy to kiss…"

Remus turned, slight smile on his lips, and Sirius leaned up to press their mouths together. The sun was falling, and even though Remus' eyes were closed he could still feel the last of the orange rays melting across his shoulders.

He pulled away, eyes still closed so that his eyelashes sent slanting shadows down his cheeks. "I could say the same to you…"

There were a few more seconds of contented silence before Sirius finally cleared his throat. "It's dinner time… We better head in before they start looking for us."

Remus just nodded, face tilted up to catch the last few fading rays of sunlight. As soon as they reentered the castle, he knew that the tenderness of this moment would blow away like a dandelion spore caught in the wind. But when Sirius stood and offered him his hand, he reconsidered.

Maybe most of the seeds would scatter, but one or two might take root. And if he was careful enough, if he tended to them in all the right ways, they just might sprout.

Standing, he gave Sirius' hand a squeeze. The two boys were silhouetted by the setting sun as they ambled back to the castle, no longer holding hands but walking close enough that their fingers occasionally brushed.

Across the lake, a final seed settled on the opposite bank.

I'm not usually a fluff-fan, but I was listening to Easy Girl by Coconut Records and this super-short-super-fluffy Remus/Sirius encounter was born. I highly recommend checking out the song. It's appropriately cheesy.
