Rory stepped onto the roof by the window she had looked out from many times. "Hey." she greeted Dean as he opened the window.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I climbed a tree."

"Why?"

"Well, I was afraid to ring the doorbell because your mom would answer and I assume she knows, so I assume she hates me and I just wanted to talk to you, so..." she trailed off.

"She doesn't know."

"She doesn't." Rory stated in slight surprise.

"I haven't really been in the mood to talk about it." Dean said quietly. Both were silent for a moment. "What do you want?" Dean asked exhaustedly.

"I wanted say that I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For doing all the things you said I did. I am so, so sorry. It's all my fault. You were the most amazing boyfriend in the world. You made me laugh, you made my mother like you, you protected me."

"I don't need the list."

"I really did love you. Please believe that."

"Then why wasn't I enough?" he asked, brokenly.

"I don't know." Rory shook her head. "I didn't want to hurt you."

"You're doing it right now."

"Will you forgive me?"

"I hope so."

"Dean, please."

"What if I can't?" Dean asked. Rory was silent.

"Everything went so wrong." she finally said in a low voice. "I am so very sorry."

Dean's harsh exterior melted a little. "I forgive you," Dean finally said, "but I don't know if I can handle seeing you...with him."

"Fair enough." Rory nodded. Dean slid his window shut, and as Rory slipped down the side of the tree, she knew that in time, everything would be okay.
