Thomas quickly interjected with his news,

"I've managed to grow some lilies- like the ones Aunt Tessa used to have. Oh! And when I visited, Jessamine decided that she didn't like my outfits very much!" he raged but laughed with the others anyway. The ghostly guardian of the London Institute was endlessly disapproving of their modern outfits and was always either trying to swap their clothes or set them up with one another.

"James- she has the hat that goes with your suit. I tried, but I couldn't get it off her- Sorry!" James smirked and rolled his eyes. It was a well-known fact that the late Jessamine Lovelace Gray had a soft spot for her nephew.

Meanwhile, Cordelia was busy unclasping something from around her neck.

"What's that, Cordy?" Asked Anna with curiosity. She held it up to the light. It was a rectangular pink gemstone with a swirling silver casing. It glinted as it spun on the end of a silver chain.

"It pulses when there are demons nearby- It was a gift from Theo," she said, blushing as pink as her dress.

"Who we spent all Summer with…" added Lucie drily, grinning at her parabatai. Allistair groaned- frustrated.

"What is it?"

"It's so annoying- you guys have stuff to tell or show about your summer- I spent all of it in Idris working for the clave.

"The Clave?!" gasped Nora, "You work for them?!" Allistair looked puzzled at the scared look on her face.

"Yeah, just a bit of extra work- training the younger kids and stuff. We all chip in to help," he said trying to reassure her- though from what he wasn't sure. Nora nodded and smiled but her face was still as white as a sheet. Felix patted her shoulder.

"Are you feeling alright, Nor? Do you need an iratze?" She shook him off- muttering to him in rapid Spanish. He nodded and she got up and left the room.

"She says she is tired from the journey- she has gone to rest."

"Poor thing, she must be exhausted," sympathises Cerise.

"Did you two do anything interesting?" said Cordelia looking to Gabrielle and her parabatai.

"We stayed a while with Je- Brother Zachariah," they said with a sad smile. Everyone began talking at once.

"Is he alright?"

"Did he go and check out the yin fen den in Shang-hai?"

"Is his mouth sewn yet?"

"How is he?"

Gabrielle raised a hand for silence.

"he's doing alright- not all of the runes work on him so they've decided not to sew shut his mouth. He did go to China but they couldn't find the root of the den- he's going back in December." It was nice for everyone to hear about Uncle Jem- he was a big part of the family even if he wasn't available very often for family gatherings.

"Well I'd say we all had some pretty good news," said James, getting up and stretching.

"I think it's nearly time for lunch!"
