Kakashi was walking towards one of the isolated training grounds near the outskirts of the village. He wondered why Tsunade-sama had asked him to go there when the Hokage's office had always been where he was asked to report to. It was already dusk and the breeze that had started to cool down as the sun set was making the leaves on the tress throw dancing shadows on the ground. All Kakashi could think about was how such a nice day it was to read his Icha Icha books.

As he neared the clearing that marked the training ground, he saw that Tsunade was already there accompanied by Shizune. From afar, he could see that Shizune was smiling at him while Tsunade regarded him with a look that made him wonder if there was something he had to interpret in it.

And then he realized that there was another woman with them. He only saw the silhoutte at first because she was standing a few feet away from the two others. She was looking up at the sky with her back to him but when she looked down and faced his way, she saw Kakashi and offered a timid smile. Kakashi could not believe his eye. It was Rin.

He walked past the still smiling Shizune and still serious-looking Tsunade. As he walked closer to Rin he adjusted his forehead protector to expose his sharingan. Obito needed to see this, he thought.

He walked on towards her. Rin who was still smiling, saw that there wasn't any hint of welcome in Kakashi's face.

Closer. Her smile slowly disappeared but she continued looking at the man who was walking towards her.

And closer. He looked like he was not pleased at all to see her. Rin did not know that his heart wanted to jump out of his chest.

And closer. Kakashi took out a kunai and started twirling it on the fingers of his hand.

And then Kakashi became a blur.

He appeared beside Rin and she managed to dodge the kunai Kakashi thrust her way. Shizune gasped at realizing what just happened and started to run towards the two but Tsunade stopped her. "Let him handle this," Tsunade said. Shizune just bit her lip and nodded.

It was like a dance. A graceful dance. Graceful but lethal. Rin always was just able to defend or evade Kakashi's attack at the last moment. Kakashi just looked intent at hurting Rin.

And then it was over.

Kakashi had the kunai pointed just at Rin's neck while Rin's hand was glowing green, pointed at the spot where Kakashi's heart is. He still could not believe his eye and the one which was not his. He pulled away the kunai and twirled it back to his holster. Rin, who was trying to not breathe heavily from exhaustion still had her arm extended out to Kakashi, still wary, thinking what his next attack would be. But he looked at her now with smile in his eyes. Tsunade, sighing with relief, started to walk away from the clearing, pulling Shizune with her. "We can leave them now," she said.

Kakashi gently took hold of Rin's extended arm and pulled her close, making her arm go up his shoulder as he wrapped her in a hug. He was glad Rin can still remember their drills back when they would have sparring trainings. Only Rin can remember what he thought her.

"It is you. I'm glad your back," he whispered to her ear.
